Dog, read the thread; that was a joke response continuing a gag with Serge. I have very clearly been arguing against the idea of Audience Repellent Ward being the A-side vs ticket seller GGG.

Not for the much more experienced fighter, though. And not if there's one year less ring rust.

    Well done
    GGG weathered the Eary tsunami
& dominated the 2nd half of the fight after he knocked Murata’s mouthpiece out.
    Never looked back after that.
    It was beautiful.

BS. Age trumps all other factors. Are you are teenager or something?

I can't see Golovkin beating Canelo.

He might not even beat Charlo or Andrade at this point.

I watched it again, Golovkin displayed a phenomenal performance. People who says Golovkin was bad are delusional. He will beat Canelo in the 3rd match.

    I scored it as follows:

    Round 1: Golovkin
    Round 2: Murata
    Round 3: Murata
    Round 4: Golovkin
    Round 5: Golovkin
    Round 6: Golovkin
    Round 7: Golovkin
    Round 8: Golovkin
Round 9: Golovkin wins by TKO

GGGs shot selection looked great in the 2nd half, but his feet have deffo slowed markedly - even if we allow for rust in the 1st couple of rounds.

Can't see much success for him against Canelo at this point - unless the move up to 168 helps his power more than i'd expect.
Of course, Canelo still has to get past Bivol first and - corruption aside - that's no easy task

My guess is that I'm older than you by several decades. I'd guess so by the way you sound. Or you might just be missing something. Tough to tell here in General. Anyhow, you're not worth wasting more time on.

Murata has some inches in reach, Canelo has superior technique and timing and is a precise and heavy bodypuncher, it's one of his fortes. Canelo did visibly trouble Golovkin to the body on occasion, though not to the extent that Murata did today. But, as you say, Golovkin now has more miles on the clock and therefore may perhaps be less apt to absorb those punches, whereas Canelo is now bigger/more physically developed than in their prior two fights, having been fighting above 160 these last four years.

You don't have to 'take the fight to' a guy to beat him. Saunders sought to outbox Canelo, and he was doing a decent job up until he got caught with a face-breaker (there wasn't more than a round in it either way, going into that 8th). Plant tried to do the same, because that's his game, he just wasn't good enough. When Smith got in there, he soon realized there was nothing he could do with his limited ability and size but survive.

If a B fighter struggles with a guy a solid cut above, that's not tantamount to taking a dive, even if he ends up boxing just to survive. Billy Joe was the best equipped of that group of fighters mentioned (though he's often betrayed his talent and given flat performances before raising his game for more significant bouts), and he gave a good account of himself for most of eight rounds — though he did ultimately wave a white flag, he did so as a result of actual injury, it wasn't a case of him throwing himself to the floor at the first opportunity to bail out.

All of that is still better than what Murata has on his ledger, anyway, which was the point.

That Canelo is a better fighter than Murata shouldn't really be a controversial statement. It's pretty clear.

Loeffler confirmed that a serious offer was tabled that would have seen Ward and Golovkin box at 168 after they each had had one further interim bout. Loeffler confirmed that they turned it down. It was Loeffler himself who suggested a 164 lb catchweight through the media, which really wasn't a serious offer, because Ward had made it clear, upon his return, that he would box Golovkin no lower than 168 and Loeffler knew it.

    That's the unvarnished truth.

Remember this, folks: whosoever defeats Murata professionally is doomed to suffer a stoppage loss in the rematch. Check the data, hundred percent. You can't argue with science. :deal:

You and your bias is comical when people don’t share your views. No one is jealous of Lil G or lower case g. As for money I wish every fighter to make as much as they possibly can. It’s a hard sport and life so no amount is too little is my personal philosophy. Don’t worry if Canelo gets past Bivol which is not certain then he will separate lower case g from his senses this time.

That would have been a tough fight to make happen. According to Abel Sanchez, Ward wanted a few tune up fights first. That would have locked up Golovkin a few fights. The big money really wasn't there at the time. Ward was paying his opponents like 50k just so he could make 1.5. Sure they turned it down. What incentive is there to commit to 168 a few fights down the line when you are chasing a big fight with Canelo. Sure it was probably a serious offer but was it a good offer?

    Enjoyed the fight

Good scrap but GGG showed his age at various times during the fight

Canelo will unfortunately stop him at this stage
