GGG spent his prime on a long KO streak victimizing mediocre opposition. Granted, he was Canelo's mandatory challenger for a few years before the latter's shameful surrender. Only for Canelo to finally get into the ring after Golovkin had began to slowdown. Canelo looks ten times worse than GGG in all of this, but the ginger man is the devil himself. Everybody looks courageous and a good faith actor in comparison. My opinion of GGG has soured in retrospect. He would fight anybody from 154-168 according to his own word. Ward called him out and exposed Golovkin as dishonest.

Sergio's knee exploded Sept 2012 in the last round against Chavez Jr. Golovkin made his American debut Sept 2012 against Proska.

He was never a big name nor did he being any money to the table while Martinez was active.

Not in 2011. Even Darren Barker didn't know who Golovkin was in 2011. There's video of it.

There's no avoiding somebody who has no name and brings nothing to the table. It took Martinez a long time to get the big money fights. He was 38 and had a failing body against Chavez in 2012. There weren't on the same level. Why doesn't GGG give a shot to Janibek Alimkhanuly. Its not going to happen. Thats not how the sport works

Golovkin was the WBA champion since 2011. He should he heard of him after beating Ouma, and before then he was world amateur champion as an amater and silver medal in the Olympics at middle. It is his bunnies you know.

I think Martinez recovered a lucky decision vs. Murray in 2013, who was a fighter GGG whipped and KO'd 2015!

Names such as Cotto, Alvarez and Ward were mentioned then. IMO they wanted no part of a prime GGG. Neither did Martinez. Now may years later apparently the fight is makable.

To the board watch this Dino guy. He's a hater and one with false inforamtion.

He was WBA regular champion which meant nothing back then. Sturm was the proper WBA Champion.

I just saw your comment on the video. I literally started writing that script and assembling the sceenshots on Dec 31 and Jan 1. Never occurred to me that they would be so eager to keep moving him up the ladder.

I'm with you. If this does come together (which is feeling borderline inevitable if Sergio doesn't lose), I hope it goes along something like one of those scenarios you described.

That does not change the fact that Martinez likely lost to Murray, a fighter GGG TKO'd . And GGG was plenty famous in boxing for those who don't live under a rock as he was a highly decorated amateur at middle wight.

So Martinez wants a crack at GGG now? Let him come get some.
