This was a no win scenario the moment Clenbuterol was detected.

Canelo drags a glass jawed Lightweight with several KO losses all the way up to Caneloweight for the sole purpose of getting a violent Povetkin-Price like KO victory.

Canelo defend the fight vociferously even go so far as flat out hyping it.

GGG fans ridicule him for not facing a legit Middleweight.

Golovkin drags up an iron chinned Light Middleweight, who could easily make MW, who's probably at Light Heavyweight at the moment, who's only lost to slick fighters.

GGG fans let out a collective meh, not thrilled in the least.

Canelo fanboys are incensed, far more incensed in fact than they are about CANELO TESTING POSITIVE FOR A BANNED SUBSTANCE, forcing GGG on short notice to take on an opponent like Vanes..

    Caneloons have zero shame.

You're not quite a Caneloon, ElCyclon. Isal and shadow take top honors in that department.

I'm in a unique position as far as boxing fans go. A big fan of both GGG and Canelo but not a member of the "Caneloons" nor the GGGirls club.

Golovkin needs to fight anyone he can get, so he can get he ring rust off. Oscar and El Pollo have been trying to destroy his career with inactivity! Golovkin beat El Pollo and that's that! This fight is better than nothing. Charlo fights a cripple and gets called the best middleweight living today....................why is that?

I almost feel bad for @IsaL now - he talked himself into that banning (wasn't even me, btw, it was some other mod) and deserved it for intentionally sabotaging a poll (could be anyone's, just the principle of it, just a flat-out dick move) but isn't really all that bad a poster outside the one bugaboo topic, same as shadow111. Except for matters where some impartiality toward Canelo is required they're both pretty levelheaded in general.

77-10*-3 (69) in favor of Golovkin

*minus a vote for Martirosyan, because IsaL had to be an immature shithead.

Wouldn't that be Bill Clinton? I only have two 1/2 years on you, but certainly you haven't forgotten 93-00 have you?

Eh. Hilary with slightly more (or is that less?) testosterone isn't my cup of tea. Barry's my dude, of the extant options...followed, you may be surprised to hear, by GHWB. (and if I was a few years older I'd be a Jimmy Carter man through & through...and if there were any justice in our electoral process I'd be citing our current #45, Bernard Sanders :deal:)

Wait scratch that, it was Carter for me then. Followed by Clinton, then by Reagan, then by GHWB. then by Obama and coming in dead last.... I don't even like writing his name, W.

Clinton's trade policies and third way centrist economic policies set the Democratic party on its course towards becoming the Corporatist frauds they are today, but in his defense, I doubt that were his original intentions, most of policies were exacerbated by further deregulation by W. Clinton was more malleable and probably would have made the necessary corrections when the side effects of his policies became apparent. Obama polished off the Dems with his embracing of his Jeremiah Wright like divisive identity politics, and inexplicable involvements in Libya and Syria, which absolutely enraged me to the point of not voting for anyone in 2012.

I don't blame Obama for the pervasive spread of SJW identity politics, although it may well (and probably does) fall in line with his personally held views...but if you actually look back at his public statements he was fairly neutral and professionally noncommital on everything in terms of tacit let alone open endorsement of any divisive or extreme stances; I think a sea change type of cultural shift just happened to coincide with his term, making it easy to conflate them.

Bill was no less corrupt and hawkish than his more often maligned spouse, in all honesty. Don't Ask Don't Tell hasn't aged well. And his "better half" at least is a dedicated administrator, not a swaggering playboy using the Oval for a bachelor pad. Undoubtedly she also would have made Lewinsky go down on her but she would've been a lot more discreet about it.

Anyway, yeah, just to inject a tiny bit of somewhat on-topic banter to keep up the appearances of a boxing thread - everybody follow Martirosyan on Twitter, he might be the funniest active fighter. :sisi1

I think it was intentional, he was just sly and low level about it, add in the fact that all of the commie professors and teachers felt emboldened by his election, and actually thought there was a "blue wall" and that America had irrevocably changed because Obama won by a point. They got all hubristic and went to town, thinking there would be no blow back, how naïve of them. Bush brought out the shitty repulsive ultra nationalistic side of the right, and Obama brought out the excessive smarmy self righteous side of the Left, back to back directly and indirectly they both managed to polish off what was left of their crumbling parties.

Hillary was too distracted by her intern Huma Abedin voraciously munch munch munching away to even notice Monica. But yeah, I wasn't too thrilled with our involvement in Yugoslavia, but aside from that there wasn't anything all that egregious on his ledger.

And I'm off to click the follow button on Vanes' Twitter as you're reading this.:deal:
