...and just to sort of tie everything together with a neat little bow and redirect that little segue toward our thematic rubric, here:

How many of you already knew that Martirosyan fought Bradley in the amateurs? :deal Be honest!

I love me some Timmeh. His run of Vazquez, Witter, Cherry Holt, Campbell, Peterson, Abregu, Alexander, and Pacquiao* is pretty intense, and is the finest of his peers.

    Yup!

Lest anybody get it twisted: by no means did I mean to imply that Bradley fought bums prior to Holt. Au contraire, Vázquez and Witter (and even Cherry) were serious players in or just at the perimeter of the world class scene. Holt, though, in his prime in 2009 was a beast, and in Bradley's own words "people just don't understand how very hard this guy punches". It was the first real adversity that Bradley had to face, as neither Vázquez and Witter packed half as much TNT as Holt (though neither was easy to outbox, especially the latter having such an edge in experience, such a tricky style, and young Bradley invading another country to snatch the W!) and Cherry, while heavy-handed, just wasn't as good or well-rounded. 2007 & 2008 made Bradley a must-watch prospect turned promising belt holder. 2009 was the affirmation that Desert Storm was a fully-formed legitimate elite that was here to stay (and indeed remained so for several years)

well said IB. I feel all too often, posters tear down fighters as being nothing special simply because they haven't defeated a HOFer or never held a major belt. Top contenders are the bread and butter of virtually all resumes in boxing.

Vanes is, by far, a much better fighter than the two fighters Charlo fought to get to #1! Hell, Charlo beat a cripple! How in the hell do you get to become #1 by fighting and beating an unknown cripple? The guy could hardly walk! Then Charlo upped his game, he next fought Pee Wee Herman, with bones so think that it made me cringe whenever he walked across the ring, I thought his bones would break at any time! His chin is thinner than glass! So, how dare anyone complain about Golovkin fighing Vanes, Vanes would have knocked out both of Charlos jokes.......................should Golovkin fight a cripple next to impress the Charlo fans?

    Charlo is a MW
Martirosyan is an inactive Super WW.

That cripple could not even walk! That fight should never have been allowed at all! Vanes would have beaten the cripple, what was the cripple ranked? What ranking did Pee Wee Herman have? Plus, Golovkin/Vanes fight is sold out! Charlo did not sell out in his fight with the cripple or Pee Wee................I would have rather seen Golovkin fight El Pollo, but that was not Golovkin's fault, of course you might claim that Golovkin put PEDs in El Pollo's food?! Why did Golovkin's fight sell out? Let Charlo fight Jacobs next, Jacobs has been calling out Charlo, but Charlo won't even answer him, he wants another cripple or perhaps Christy Martin? By the way, at least I have heard of Vanes, but I have never heard of Charlo's cripple nor have I ever heard of Pee Wee Herman the fighter. Pee Wee should stay a comedian!

Heiland wasn't unknown, Farmy, and when healthy is a legitimately solid middleweight fringe contender, but your point that on the night he was a cripple does stand.

Martirosyan has a better result in the Lara I draw than Charlo has in his entire W column, though..

I think I missed that fight for some reason.......................I am disappointed in the Golovkin/El Pollo fight being cancelled, but am just glad to see Golovkin get some rust off. Golovkin said that he would like to fight 4o or 5 times per year from now on, in an interview I read....................Golovkin's time is running out and he wants to make hay while the sun shines. Charlo vs. Jacobs winner would create interest, want to see Golovkin fight Saunders right after the El Pollo rematch or before if possible, which I doubt...............then he will be free to fight his mandatories and retire................
