• Golovkin must agree in writing before the May 5 fight "to indemnify, hold harmless and otherwise reimburse the IBF for any legal fees or other expenses related to the granting of this exception, including, but not limited to, the cost attendant to any resultant litigation."
  
  
• Golovkin must "comply with all of the conditions set forth in the granting of this exception" or formal sanction won't be issued for the May 5 bout.
  

The IBF ruling is essentially a win for the Derevyanchenko camp, which never thought Golovkin would fight him on short notice on May 5. What it wanted was for the IBF to rule that Derevyanchenko (12-0, 10 KOs), 32, a 2008 Olympian from Ukraine, would get the shot at the IBF belt be it against Golovkin or a vacant title fight.

 

That's a fair decision from the IBF in my view.

Golovkin will no doubt try to negotiate a step-aside deal, too much money in the Canelo fight.

 

He won't be allowed according to the statement. He either has to fight him or give up the belt.

 

Too bad the other MW's can't freeze canelo out. Too much money in a fight w/ him.

 

If Derevyanchenko accepts a step-aside deal, the IBF *might* be happy with that. They can be very strict though, so it's no guarantee, of late the IBF has been refusing to allow step-asides.

We'll see, my prediction is that the belt gets dropped.

 

I read GGG said Vanes was the best boxer on the 2004 US Olympic team. Guess he is still salty at Ward for checking him.

Dropping the belt seems reasonable if Golovkin is indeed aiming for Canelo rematch, IBF seem like they’re serious about this and won’t allow a step-aside.

I’d still vote for SD fight by August and BJS by end of this year, they’ve been chasing Canelo around for far too long and all they get is stalling/ridiculous score cards/more stalling and being thrown under the bus few weeks before the rematch.

 

Arguably even better if Golovkin becomes undisputed by end of this year.
But that’s 3 ifs away from reality with every next one being progressively more unlikely.
1. Vanes fight isn’t a sensational upset.
2. IBF belt isnt dropped and gets successfully defended instead.
3. BJS gets in the ring with his belt and comes out without it.

 

Erroll Spencer is more 'Mexican Style' than Golovkin. Why? because GGG wouldn't grit it out in the trenches over 12 rounds against Canelo in the most important fight of his career.

Maidana tearing into Floyd like a pitbull is what Mexican Stlye is all about if you want a recent example. GGGs career is all hogwash , lies and media hype. Decent fighter though.

 

No confirmation so far from BN about brodcasting this fight and Sky wont be showing it so it may not get any UK coverage at all
