Man, I miss those ridiculous PBC cards that were on here at like 5PM. 12 hours of boxing easy on most weekends with all the worldwide cards.
And usually the last one to finish was the UFC. Which made it like 18 hours of action on those days.

 

Mati still loading up a tad much for my liking, but he is landing. Holding his feet less than the previous round too. Okoth is sticking in there with him, aiming to get inside and wail away with flailing combos to head and body. Mati definitely with the cleaner work, a noticeable lack of head movement from Mati though, that jab of Okoth's is always near the mark at least. 20-18 Mati.

 

That's what you call a fight night baby, love when there's a good boxing show and a UFC card to boot. Sure I did that last week and wasn't disappointed by Figuereido and Moreno, legendary fight.

 

This works out great. Stop working at 4pm, watch GG, then begin diving in to the oh-so-tasty college football lineup this weekend. Capping it off with Canelo on Saturday night when I am off my rocker.

This is the type of sports weekend I dream about during the dog days of summer.

 

Mati has nice fast hands and seemingly decent power but his timing isn't quite there yet. His shots are landing, but mostly in cuffing fashion. Okoth seems to be doing better this round, making Mati miss more and landing more of his own. Mati still just about nicks it on one or two clean shots but damn it was close. 30-27 Mati.

 

If only we could have had a summer like this.

 

Mati being flashier, moving his head and feet a hell of a lot more. Flicking out his jab more as well, just to blind his opponent, with a solid straight coming behind it. Mixes up to head and body, stepping back to evade counters and moving his head to make Okoth miss his jab. Much much better round from Mati, exactly the kind of things I've been looking for are all there now. 40-36 Mati.

 

No doubt, at least we got to witness history right? Right.......

 

Listening CLEARLY the trainer's instructions to his fighter while they are fighting the rounds is awesome too. I prefer the crowd, but it's a part of the game that cannot be usually enjoyed out of local gyms amateur fights.

I prefer the crowd, I'm only trying to find the bright side of all that BS.

 

Despondently I must say right...

 

Mati following on from the previous round with his tactics, but Okoth is hunting him and swinging wide hooks that we haven't seen from him before. He definitely wants to give this guy a stiff test at least but Mati showing his class now. Hitting, ducking, and pivoting away in seamless fashion. Mati 50-45.

Mati trips to the floor by accident, pulls off a sick kip up to get back up, kudos. Okoth strafing the body well in response. But on the follow-up is caught coming in and turns away in pain after eating a one two. Mati pounces and peppers him on the ropes, no response from Okoth, just shelling up and the ref calls it. Mati TKO-6.

 

Okoth seems to have hurt his leg actually. Stepping gingerly and loudly wincing as he lays against the ropes.

 

Okoth seems familiar was he on dazn as another opponent for a different up and comer this past year?
