    I'm sorry but NO.

Hopkins' quality of opposition @ 160 absolutely embarrasses Golovkin's. It ain't even close...

lol it's funny you should say that as I kept trying to find a part in the video were she paused from speaking for a split second so I could try and make it more convincing, but I gave up in the end and just stopped it at a random point because I got tired of waiting for her to do so.

Ok, you're right. The ability to fight off the back foot isn't a prerequisite - but it's certainly an indicator.

And I honestly don't recall Golovkin using much lateral movement. He's usually walking forward while blocking punches with his face...

    Mercado II
    Frank
    Lipsey
    James
    Jackson
    Johnson
    Council
    Brown
    Allen I
    Allen II
    Echols
    Vanderpool
    Echols II
    Holmes
    Trinidad
    Daniels
    Hakkar
    Joppy
    Allen III
    DLH
    Eastman

His opposition quality, you say (not quantity) embarrasses Golovkin's? :think

The above represents a ten year period. Golovkin is still in the midst of his reign, so comparing apples to apples wouldn't be fair. So chop Hopkins' reign in half.

First half, Mercado II up through Echols II; second half Holmes through Eastman.

Does the quality of either half trump Golovkin's in his five year reign?

    Nunez
    Tapia
    Ouma
    Simon
    Fuchigami
    Proksa
    Rosado
    Ishida
    Macklin
    Stevens
    Adama
    Geale
    Rubio
    Murray

    ...with Monroe Jr. on deck.

That's already 2/3 as many world title victories as in Hopkins' reign, accomplished in half as long.

If you're talking about the 1st half of Hopkins' reign, sorry, but no, the quality is comparable.

Even if you mean the 2nd, outside Tito (in his sop****re effort at the weight) nothing stands head and shoulders above Golovkin's best couple in terms of quality.

Hopkins' reign was great because of its longevity, not the opposition quality. I'm not saying they were all bums (nor is Golovkin's reign devoid of utter jokes: see Nunez, Tapia, Fuchigami...) but it was a large quantity of so-so, decent but not great opposition.

    You're confusing him with Provodnikov.

(Another hard punching Russian with vaguely Asian features. Little smaller. ;))

    Hi .
You are forgetting that Marvin fought in an era of the same day weigh-in and walked around at 162lb. He was tiny for his Division . ( He also overtrained for Ray Leonard and came in at 158 age 33 ) Carlos Monzon and Bernard Hopkins the other great middleweights where over 6 ft .

Just to make it clear so that this doesn't go floating around, she doesn't say that or anything like that.

I thought he dropped Stevens using lateral movement? I thought the hook came on the end of a side step...

    :good

This gets constantly overlooked. Funny how Hopkins reign gets put on a pedestal when in reality its really not that much better if you compare it year by year. (First couple years of their reign )

A list of fighters who are either ducking Golovkin, have ducked him in the past, or have swerved and avoided him like the plague or been unable to fight him due to circumstance. And this is just off the top of my head.

Sergio - Lou Dibella would rather let Jimmy Savile babysit his children than let Sergio within a 1000 mile radius of Golovkin.
Sturm - ducked Golovkin like he had Ebola and the Bubonic Plague at the same time, and ducked him for years and years.
Cotto - he don't want no part of Golovkin unless he catches wind of him having two gammy knees.
Quillin - Turned down a shot at Golovkin's WBA crown before he had his own strap and before the onset of the Cold War and you can literally hear the p*ss running down his legs whenever anyone mentions Golovkin's name to him during interviews.
Geale - vacated his IBF strap when ordered to face Golovkin for it, only man-up after losing his other strap and was publicly being accused of being a coward.
Chavez Jr. - turned down a king's ransom to face Golovkin.
Murray - pulled out of fighting Golovkin numerous times before finally agreeing to face him.
N'Dam - ducked Golovkin like three or four times, even vacated his WBA interim strap rather than face him when the WBA ordered him to square off with him for the full title.
Mundine - turned down a crack at Golovkin for the vacant WBA title despite Golovkin agreeing to fight him in his back garden. Said he had bigger fish to fry only to then fight a sheep shearer and a lifeguard.
Pirog - had a legitimate reason to not fight Golovkin - suffered a terrible neck/back injury and hasn't fought since.

Jacobs don't want no part of Golovkin yet.

Taylor wouldn't even consider facing him if he was tooled up with his guns and off his anti-psychotics.

Lee doesn't seem in a hurry to face him either.

Who the f*ck was ducking B-Hop at MW during his reign down there?
