I think Saunders would beat Golovkin now tbh. That'll be my pick if they fight. Thing is though, Golovkin's slipping now.

Truth be told, I merely posed the question without actually answering it myself.

Yeah, I have that one as a near toss-up at this point. I'd still make Golovkin a slight favorite though.

Top 15. Im a fan of GGG. I like his power, skill set and the way he sets up his power.

The timing hasn't been too good for his career. He is about 36 now. IDK how much of what I saw against Jacobs and Alvarez was age? How much was just who he is?

Then I'd never make any videos!

But, I basically think he's the best since Hopkins, and I noted my top 5 were Hagler, Monzon, Greb, SRR, and Bernard.

I think what happens with Golovkin the next 2 years or so can very well wind up defining his legacy (for better or worse, fair or not). If he loses a fight in the next year, I think his reputation and standing will take a big hit.

But if he can go on to beat Canelo, and some combination from BJS, Charlo, a Jacobs rematch - and win those fights in style, I think it could do a great deal to improve his standing.

How many opponents has he beaten that are good as Saunders? Maybe Canelo and Jacobs, so he'd be in the top 3.I think for sure it'd improve his standing.

I mean not long ago people were saying Lemieux was GGG's best win, and Saunders beat him easilly.

I think Canelo will win the rematch. Assuming he doesn't go off the rails regarding out of the ring issues. Just based on what I saw in their 1st fight. Along with their respective ages.

He needs to hurt him with a punch. Cut the ring better, go to the body, don't wait for the perfect shot, be first, don' eat clean counters.

I had GGG winning close. Make no mistake there were some things going on in there that were not in his favor. That jab of his saved his ass that night.

I don't think he needs a top-class resume. He's done all of this despite being past his sell-by-date. An old man with a walking stick has battered some world-class fighters, some brutally. Not many in history can say they beat top 10 world opposition consistently despite being 3 - 4 years past-prime, and with all those world titles in hand too.

For me, that is the main thing that sticks in my head when it comes to GGG. He did it all as an old man. The second thing that sticks in my head is his win against Jacobs. I think he deserves huge praise for that win. Reason being that he beat a man who had a HUGE height advantage and was considered elite in the division at the time. To overcome that takes some doing. So for me, he has to be minimum top 10 middleweight of all time, if not top 5. And although we haven't really seen a prime GGG against the very best, I have a sneaky feeling that a prime, younger GGG beats every middleweight in history.

I currently have him and number 22, and these are the guys who are currently keeping him out of my top fifteen:
    15 Gibbons
    16 H Williams
    17 Charles
    18 Jones Jr
    19 Flowers
    20 Zale
    21 Conn
This thread is causing me to re-evaluate, though. Let's see.

BJS is much more of a dangerous fight for golovkin then given credit for.
The style Canelo adopted against Golovkin is Saunders bread and butter.
However he might not be able to stand up to the punches as well as Canelo did, that's where I think his advantages in mobility and elusiveness might balance out.

The Charlo brothers are also some interesting opponents.

Another note: Besides the incredible feat it is, how much does Golovkins MW streak mean in face of the fact that he hasn't moved up'? That's one of the things about lower weight divisions...

If Golovkin retires at MW, there will always be a sour taste left for me.
A guy of his raw talents should not go an entire career without testing his power on bigger fighters. It would be a travesty, and time is running out.

He needs to keep his foot on the gas and clearly dominate Canelo.

I scored Canelo GGG 114-114. Canelo won the early rounds, ggg dominated the middle especially rounds 6-10 then he became cautious took his foot off the gas and allowed Canelo to steal a few rounds late. It’s a shame

Golovkin definitely didn’t win more than 7-8 rounds in my eyes. So I’ve seen a lot worse robberies out there.

GGG has only himself to blame. Finish the fight!

If ggg beats Canelo and Saunders clearly and cleanly...I will give ggg huge credit and move him into my top 10 all time
