Gennady Golovkin Focused on Middleweight Unification of Titles, Says Promoter

    World Boxing Association and International Boxing Organization middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin may not be keen on entertaining a fight with veteran boxer Bernard Hopkins at the moment.
    The unbeaten Kazakh warrior, who left 30 out of 33 of his past opponents trembling after suffering a TKO loss, has something else in mind, according to Tom Loeffer, managing director of K2 Promotions.
    "Gennady's focus is on unifying the middleweight titles right now," Loffer told Boxing Scene.

    So his promoter is basically saying: Gennady's focus is to keep on fighting tomato cans till the end of time :patsch

    That's the best course of action for GGG.

    Although his team seems to come up with something different all the time, and they have contradicted their own statements (GGG and his team that is) quite a bit. But I guess that's the nature of the beast in this business.

    Then why did they just offer Froch a fight at 168? GGG is one of the guys I enjoy following the most but their really are a myriad of inconsistencies that come from him and his team.

    They probably already have something lined up next with a MW. Thank Froch for putting him off forever.

    If Cotto or Canelo drop the title after they fight GGG will be super ****ed. I'm talking Amir Khan status of sick, because there is no guarantee that any of those guys will fight him and even if he collected all five belts no body will give a **** because he will not have defeated any one of note.

    He truly is the European Marvin Hagler.

    Allegedly, Golovkin is working on cutting weight now. Maybe that is why they are not in a hurry to name his next opponent. He definitely looks thin in his latest pictures.

    Speaking about Hopkins, many say that at this point, after being schooled by Kovalev, he doesn't add much to Golovkin's resume. Majority will say that GGG defeated a shot 50-year old. Why fight a LHW when you are working on cutting weight then ?
