He weighed 165 lbs in this amateur fight, while his opponent weighed 178 lbs. Fight took place 2004 the same year he took Olympic Gold.

And to be fair GGG is moving up to fight Chavez JNR who outweighs Ward and likely weighs as much as most Light heavy weights on fight night.

I've never said that Golovkin is anything more than a MW titleholder, and of course never questioned that Ward is way more accomplished. What seemed strange for me is people claiming that Golovkin should move up a division and fight Ward, who apparently challenged him. It's not that I dislike Andre Ward or anything, don't get a wrong impression, he is the true SMW champion, Olympic gold medalist and obviously a decent and respectful man with good attitude. Now there is a question, why should Andre Ward, a SMW champion, call out a middleweight titleholder? The answer is obviously the money. I would personally favor Andre to win if they were to fight. As for the statement that Ward should move down if he wants that fight, I've said that because that's technically how the things work. If you are challenging a champion or a titleholder from another division, it is not natural that you challenge him to come up to your own weight, since you are technically a challenger. I understand that Ward is having some difficulties and is looking for a big money fight, but realistically he shouldn't be calling out smaller guys. Golovkin didn't call out Floyd, he was asked if he would fight him and said something like of course, and he was asked about the division where Mayweather is the champion if I remember well. I didn't say anything about Dawson, from what I know it was Dawson who asked for 168 and it's all fine.

So bottom line I didn't say anything bad about Andre Ward, and for the record I'm not a fan of any boxer, there are certain boxers that I respect and follow and both Golovkin and Ward (although I still can't forgive him for what he did to Kessler :) ) are among them. I was just saying that it's wrong to claim that Golovkin should move up just because Andre Ward apparently called him out. After all, he is significantly smaller and it wouldn't be a fair fight. Assuming Martinez defeats Cotto, he should fight Golovkin next so we'll see what happens. Now I also see that Golovkin is willing to move up for Chavez, so they are obviously looking at the business side of the coin as well, but technically it doesn't have anything to do with Andre Ward and it's not like Golovkin has some moral obligation to fight him.

So yeah, hopefully the things are more clear now.

I saw the interview in Russian, when the reporter asked about potential fight with Money, and GGG replied: yeah, dream fight, but will never happen, as he has no business case for it.

People should chill. No wonder GGG mentions Floyd so often because he is ASKED more often, so he replies. Who wouldn't fight Money? Stupid fans can't connect the dots and spill all the hatred not knowing the full picture.

Very true, almost anyone would fight Floyd. It is likely the biggest payday of their career. Moving up or down to face him is irrelevant. Problem is Floyd fights who he wants so everyone puts their name out there hoping he will pick them.

Mayweather is not into feeding all poor immigrants that want a piece of the action. Golovkin has established himself and now he better search for Quillin, Martinez, Dirrell, Groves, man, go bother somebody else.

Get the **** outta here with this ****. Golovkin is a middleweight. You hate Floyd that much to push a natural welter to fight a middleweight champ?

Mayweather will not fight Golovkin. He is arrogant but not stupid. He will avoid Golovkin like plague.

Golovkin is a small middleweight. He is more of a 154-160 fighter than 160-168 one. He wouldn't outweight Floyd by 20 lbs. Don't beleive the legend of Maidana outweighting Floyd by 20 lbs.
