f thats true then props to GGG for even considering that fight. Tommy Oos is a giant super-middle and a tough kid to boot. I agree though that 164 would be a big ask for a lad who is 6.4"
Pirog had slipped disk injury, he may want a tune up fight to get back into rhythm after beign laid up. I imagine Marco Antonio Rubio could get the call for January. Personally I would've like to have seen Golovkin take an ESPN fight with Brian Vera in November/December rather than wait so long. It would've made for a violent fight.
Too bad about Oosthuizen, but I saw one of his fights on Youtube and too be honest he did not impress me much. Too big, too awkward and athletic like drunk ostrich. I do not see that this guy poses a threat to Golovkin at 164 or 168. Kirkland? Yes - Sanchez has mentioned Kirkland before. Again - at a catchweight. We will see how that works out. I just want to see Golovkin fight!
One of the Brits/Irish Barker, Macklin, Murray would be great. Murray would be the easiest opponent - no more than a poor man's Felix Sturm. Being Irish, Macklin may be the most marketable opponent in the US. Golovkin is a small middleweight. Stop looking at 168 or catchweight fights above 160. I think he can easlily make 157 or anything like that. So if any US-based junionr middleweight (Kirkland, Angulo - certainly not Alvarez) is dumb enough to accept a catchweight fight he should take it.
Hopefully its someone with a name, or recognition. Pirog-Golovkin would be big. Kid Chocolate is already in hiding, so we know that is not happening.
I hope it's NOT Quillin: As good as he looked last week, he was actually reminding me a lot of GGG: Relaxed & methodical, conserving energy, and just walking his opponent down. I'd be very surprised if Quillin's team hasn't specifically been studying / borrowing from Golovkin's style. So, if / when those two finally meet in the ring, it could be more of a chess match than a boxing match. I hope it's Pirog. That would be a great matchup, style-wise.
