Gennady Golovkin punches almost 3 times as hard as Mayweather did. In a literal sense.

PBF was also in his 5th weight class and was the smaller man and was past his prime and he damn near shut him out. GGG fought Canelo at his career weight was the bigger man and was expected to knock Canelo out. PBF win over Canelo > GGG's draw against him.:deal:

Golovkin generates almost 2200 pounds of force. It is what is.

Oh, look at this. We’re using “context” now when it’s convenient. So if we use context against Golovkin, how does he hold up? He’s a bum killer and that’s it. That Canelo was still more versatile than Golovkin has ever been.

He just was up against a true great that night. Not a media created hypejob who fights guys coming off the couch. Floyd was also around the same age as Golovkin. I’m sure he wasn’t considered old and deteriorating lmao

I used to have doubts about Floyd's elegibility for the HOF, but the McGregor fight proved it to me. :angel2:

More context. Don’t lay it on them too much. These clowns don’t like facts.

Is it really that comparable though?

For example, if GGG was a LHW, would he hit that hard?

In theory, the increased weight could decrease his speed, and therefore the power his punches are delivered at.

Weight = Power is not a definitive science....Otherwise 500 pounders would be dominating the HW division.

Canelo was drained. But was also proved to be hugely overrated, as it was one of Mayweather's easiest fights.

He got a boxing lesson from Floyd, and a brawling lesson from GGG.....

Luckily, he also got a lesson in corruption by Oscar.

Which cracks me up because when FlIVd was ducking Manny it was all about how he moved up and kept koing everybody so he on peds. Then it was he hasnt ko`d anybody and ko6 so hes washed up no need to fight because he has Bradley and Marquez problems. Lol! By `15 Manny was nowhere near what he was pre 2013 and FlIVd finally makes the fight and pretty much holds, runs and pot shots for 12 rounds that nearly caused millions of comas around the world from the absolute bore fest the fight turned out to be even though FlIVd prefight was all about chopping wood and going for the ko lol!

    True.
You cannot judge the performance of a fighter who was drained as an indication of whether he was overrated or not. Asking a fighter to reach a catchweight that is lower than his usual weight directly impacts his performance. To be fair, you can only judge a fighter when he is allowed to fight at his normal weight, which is usually the weight limit of the division.
False. It was without a doubt one of the hardest and most difficult fights Floyd ever had. No one ever took Floyd into the kind of deep waters that Canelo did. No one made Floyd fight the way he fought Canelo. Floyd had to use much more upper body movement than usual, Floyd got caught flinching on feints way more than he ever had in any fight. Floyd was hit with more clean punches than usual, and Floyd (at times) had more difficulty landing clean on Canelo than usual. Not only that, but Floyd's own statements after the fight indicated he was in a greuling war. In fact in a youtube interview as he was being massaged, he talked about an injury he sustained in the fight. There was nothing easy about Floyd fighting Canelo, don't be ridiculous. The fact that he would only accept the fight at a catchweight when he was already a 154-lb champ and won a title in that division the year before (at 154 lbs) shows just how difficult of a fight Floyd knew Canelo would be, to where he would fight Canelo if Canelo would agree to a catchweight.

He learned a lot from fighting Floyd. You can say he got a boxing lesson, then again everybody gets a boxing lesson from Mayweather. I'm not sure about getting a brawling lesson from GGG, nice try though. GGG sure got a boxing lesson from Canelo though !

You're big on lessons aren't you. A "corruption" lesson ? Never heard that one before, sounds like a conspiracy.

Canelo weight 1 1/2 pounds less than his fight vs Trout 4 months earlier.
Drained to death may be a reach........

This. As soon as GGG started fighting good competition the knockouts came to a hault. GGG was getting worked by Canelo in the middle of the ring and had to force it too the ropes to take back control of the fight. Floyd on the other hand was schooling Canelo in the middle of the ring and on the ropes and had enough power to keep Canelo honest the whole fight.
