GGG knocked out WBA#4 Nilson Julio Tapia in his home title defense of the regular MW belt in Astana, Kazakhstan. Next up is French-Cameroon Hassan N'Dam who captured the interim belt with a debatable decision a few weeks back. The two sides must make a deal soon and fight early 2011, though Golovkin's legal battle with Universum could push it back, or there's a chance if the fight fells off GGG will be stripped.

Thanks for the update BB. :good

Apparently this was the only pro fight on the card in Kazakhstan (with ten amateur bouts supporting it).

Do you have any idea when it actually ended? Kazakh & Russian TV were supposed to have had it scheduled to start over two hours ago.

Hassan is a good fighter with a lot of potential but I think Golovkin will KO him.

Yep, that's a lovely amateur KO. Golovkin used to do that back in the ams. Now he's doing it in the pros. Badass.

Was the match competitive? I read over at the news of fights that Golovkin was interested in fighting Peter Manfredo (how disappointing)!! Everybody clearly wants to see him fight N'dam.

Good win for Golovkin. He's said he's actually targeting Peter Manfredo next. I doubt Golovkin and N'Dam will fight. Because of Golovkin's legal problems, N'Dam's promoter won't touch a Golovkin fight with a ten foot pole for fear of getting sued by Universum.

I don't know how "debatable" the N'Dam win over Khurtsidze was. The Georgian put up a spirited performance, and the cards should have been closer than they were, but N'Dam pretty clearly won.

I really want to see Golovkin-N'Dam though, even if I think Golovkin is a class above N'Dam (and pretty much every other up and coming fighter in the middleweight division).

I would love to see this match-up, don't know if it will happen but it should absolutely! When Gennady will be ready to move to 168 Bute will already be at 175. Bute has a more refined style today, but what a great match-up it would be... I hope we will see Gennady on Showtime/HBO in the future because he has incredible skills with great power.

I had it for Khurtsidze, others too, and if I remember correctly the crowd raised it's voice as well. Controversial? No, it was close and hard to score, but debatable? Of course, the community is split.

Doesn't matter now, we wanted N'Dim N'Dam vs. Golo in the first place and I think we'll get it. I can see Golo and Universum cutting a deal for this particular fight and win the bid or making a % deal, but one way or another, the WBA look adamant to stage it. Which is good news to clear up the mess, but they should've never handed out 1000 belts in the first place the greedy *******s.

Golovkin is my favourite MW prospect/titlist right now. He's gonna **** N'Jikam up.

I don' know how much it'll clear up the mess. The WBA wants Khurtsidze and Giovanni Lorenzo to fight in March for the WBA interm title currently held by N'Dam. I imagine the winner will then fight the winner of Golovkin-N'Dam before forcing Sturm to actually defend his title.
