I'd rather see him stay idle than to face this bum. This guy does nothing for his resume.

I actually agree with you, I would never pay to watch such a fight... I just don't think that it will make a difference in the final result, for the actual fans it is an awful fight I won't deny that for 1 second

I'd have expected to see him vs Geale, Rubio or Mora type of opposition than this but what can you do, its a stay busy fight. :)

Maybe, maybe not. Hopkins and Calzaghe stayed in their divisions and the fights eventually came. There is no guarantee either way but I think ruling your division and waiting makes more sense than going up to an almost guaranteed beating against guys who aren't even big money superstars. Also it's not jut because of unwillingness/inability to move up. It's also because he can't get fights with the best in his division. If the other top guys at 160 were interested, he could have some good fights. If there was no S6 tournament and Kessler, Froch, Bute didn't want to fight Ward, he would be in the same position.

Blame the "elite" mw's for not giving him a shot. GGG has to feed his family, if he can't get the big fights he has to stay active and take what he can get at 31 years old. Can't just sit idle.

He fights 4 times a year anyway, hopeful next fight will be big...

You could blame the guys you would rather see him fight. It takes two to tango.

Fair enough. IMO he should fight Mora instead of this bum though.

This is why I say he should move up. If no one of note is willing to fight you then move up to greener pastures where guys there will.

As terrible as this match-up is i don't think GGG should take the blame.

K2 are the worst promoters out there and i guarantee they are offering GGG opponents chump change to face him. Also the fact that GGG is getting 1 million plus viewing figures on HBO and is one of the hottest boxers in the sport at the moment but still only making $300,000/400,000 type pures is a clear indication he is gettting majorly screwed by K2.

Hopefully GGG's contract with K2 runs out in 2014 and he can move to either TopRank or Goldenboy and get fights with top contenders instead of the best of the worst middleweight fringe contenders.

His world championship run is one of the worst in history:

    Milton Nunez - Bum
    Nilson Tapia - Bum
Kassim Ouma - Shot past his best Light Middle
    Lajuan Simon - Bum
    Makoto Fuchigami - Bum
Grzegorz Proska - Euro pudding, fringe contender at best
Gabriel Rosada - Decent fighter but not World Class
Nobuhiro Ishida - One hit wonder fringer contender
Matthew Macklin - Good fighter, easily GGG's best opponent
Curtis Stevens - Fringe contender who is a glorifed journeyman with power
    Osumanu Adama - Bum
