#14 means nothing when you are coming off a loss and 2 wins vs guys with 40 losses. garbage defense

So everybody was cool with him fighting Stevens but not this guy? Watch Adama's last 5 fights or so and you'll see why he's as legit as any opponent outside of the top 5.

I am a Golovkin fan but this guy lost to slappy Geale, he is terrible.

You should watch his last 5 fights. Adama needed a gift decision to get by Brewer. He did nothing against Geale. His biggest and only meaningful win was against Roman Karmazin years ago win Karmazin was already shot.

Adama is a good fight for an up and comer or somebody like Korobov who's stepping up for his first 10 rounder. He offers nothing to Golovkin other than a punching bag. He's arguably the same level as Lajuan Simon.

    Very disappointed in this fight.

Golovkin vs Macklin 1.1 million viewers. $350K/$400K(?)
Golovkin vs Stevens: 1.4 million viewers. $350K/$400K(?)
Ward vs Rodriguez 1.1 million(?) viewers. $1.9M/$1M

There's probably a lot of EE's in States who subscribe HBO because of Golovkin and Kovalev ($150K!?).

it's a stay busy fight. usually stay busy fights are meant to keep fighters sharp and in shape but the opponents pose no real threat.

Well yeah, it isn't what as a fan you expect from a title fight, but as a champ ANY fight is a title defense for Golovkin.

Monaco was always gonna be a stay busy - any big GGG fight is gonna be on HBO. It is a disappointment, but the strategy seems to be to keep Golovkins momentum going, I'd prefer he fought a guy who's a least a legitimate top 20 rather than not fight at all.

Also, Murray is Golovkins mando and having them fighting on the same card seems unlikely to be an accident (dunno the status of Murrays visa, but he may need more time and certainly could use a win prior to GGG).

Furthermore not only does it build GGG - Murray, that fight's an obvious lead in to Maravilla too (even Murray - Maravilla II would work should Martin somehow beat Golovkin). In that light - although it is a disappointing defense, Adama isn't a nobody, and it could provide the introduction to a very interesting HBO progression for Golovkin in 2014.

I've gotta admit, I've had to cast about a bit to put a silver lining on Monte C tho.

Yeah he's a work in progress, but subscriptions are always gonna be a difficult one to judge - how many of these would subscribe only because of GGG? How significant is his attraction as part of a larger whole - how many 'swinging subscribers' would stay with HBO cos' of GGG?

It's hard to tell, but right now they are sinking a lot of money (relative to GGGs broader popularity) into Stevens' level opponents in the hope of eventually turning him into a crossover (even maybe eventually PPV) star. He's gaining popularity, but his name is still being built and that may cost as much as it returns in the short term.

The only good thing about this fight is that Adama has never been stopped and has fought above 160.

Adama seems fearless, not a runner and loves to hook to the body with both hands, even from the outside, in this fight i'm watching with him vs Hruska. doesn't have much power in his punches though. a lot of clean, fierce looking body blows aren't even fazing this Hruska guy.
