Tiger never weighed under 160 pounds in any fight if the last four years of his career. In fact 158 was his career low.

Edit: chapter 5 of his bio speaks extensively on Tigers difficulty making weight. It notes that he was "worried about his ability to make weight" and that he was always "doubtful" about his ability to make middleweight. You can read it on chatafrik.

There is not a middleweight that ever lived stronger than Tiger .. he was a monster .. he could be outboxed but I do not see GGG , who I like but do not see as such a huge deal, coming to him and beating him up .. GGG has not show me that level of performance yet .. maybe he is capable of it but we have to see him tested properly before he gets old ..

Tiger would have KO'D him, I just don't see anything in this guy GGG so far that would leave me to believe he could excel at the elite level, just another HBO hype job, similar to what Kelly Pavlik was nearly a decade ago....

When this GGG guy steps up to the plate and beats a Froch, or an Andre Ward type fighter then we will talk but im not holding my breath:-(..

At 33 he better do something soon, most guy's in the lighter weight classes start slipping at 35...

I agree that Golovkin is unproven. I think he's good and exciting enough to at least discuss his chances against some of the ATGs.

I was surprised that some people on this forum reckoned he'd beat Hagler ! etc.

The consensus so far seems to be that Tiger would beat him. And I definitely agree with that.
Tiger was just so formidable if you came straight at him like Golovkin does.

I think Golovkin could beat Bob Foster.

Ihetu was stopped by Tommy West and floored by Emile Griffith.
Golovkin is an elite 160 with n elite chin BTW.
    Also elite punching ability.
GGG stops Ihetu or at worst deck him 1-2 times en route to a decision win.
BBB could not have been imagined to be stoppable had it not for Valdez, and Ihetu was both stopped and floored as a 160lbs fighter and Griffith even in p4p terms was not nearly the force GGG is.

So the Golovkin iron chin is based on a few shots he took by a feather fisted Murray whose punches had even less pop than normal due to him taking severe body punishment?
When you get hit to the body like that, its hard to hold up your arms , never mind punch and never mind punch with power

If thats the case, Murray has the ATG Greatest and best MW chin EVER , since he took GGGs monster hammers for 11 rounds without being seriously turned over.
That's obviously not true so how the hell has GGG a cast iron chin when he only took a couple of power less taps from a light hitter?.

The title of Iron Chin has to be earned. Its not just given out like candy.

GGG, as good as he is, is merely a big fish in a little pool...stocked with little fish. **** Tiger would have ground him down, or mistreated him like he did Rubin Carter.
Only clever middleweights with chins and good jabs could beat Tiger,...and he often turned the tables on them or at least made it very very close.

Tiger lost to Tommy West due to an injured thumb....Tiger wasn't floored until Griffith briefly decked him, and he wasn't legitemitely ko'ed until Foster ko'ed him. Really frank, you made more sense when you postd in gobbledygook. You're wrong all the way around.

Griffith would have won a ho-hum, typical day at the office 15 round decision over the current rage.

Obviously Tiger was a beast, far more proven, but how tough and powerful is GGG? If he were to handle Froch and Ward I'm guessing he does quite a bit different vs Tiger?

Yes,it would be different vs Tiger...a totally different animal. None of GGG's opponents compare to Tiger...it's that in a nut shell.

Tiger beat 5 men that held world titles and many contenders.

He is proven in the fire, Golovkin is not yet.
