You've made some good points, but we have to remember that everyone's circumstances are different. Let's have some fun and speculate what Floyd would have done had he been a 5'10 MW, with a 70" reach like GG. We know what a great fighter he is, but we also know how he's carried himself over the years and how he's always needed every conceivable advantage. Just for fun, how many weight divisions do you think he'd have fought in? Which guys would he have fought? In my opinion, the chances are he'd never have left MW. You just can't compare MW's with guys like Floyd who've come through weight classes without being at a disadvantage. Here's something for you to think about: Floyd has a bigger reach than GG and Andre Ward.
Come on mate, he didn't drag Kell up to fight him. It was just an offer that he couldn't refuse to turn down.
Yup, this. There's nothing that suggests that GGG is a cherrypicker in any way. At various points in his career he had agreed to fights with Ward, Froch, Chavez Jr etc and they are all bigger than him and elite level*. He's never ducked a mando either. He wasn't gunning for Brook anyway, he was gunning for Eubank Jr. Rather than cancel the fight, he took up the offer of a man with nuts of cast iron: Kell brook. *Chavez maybe less so but rumour has it he is an elite level spliffer
I'm good champ. Hows yourself? You're doing a great job in here. Gonna upload some recent video footage of Calzaghe and Lacy's first meet since the fight
Didn't he make a video about GGG which was praising his prowess? Not seen much GGG hate from Rumsfeld myself. His points are valid based on GGG's fight record I feel.
He did... but ended it by saying how he doubted GGG would beat ANY of the ATG middleweights in history. Even when he praises him he cant help put in a dig
There's nothing in GGG's fight record which justifies putting him in the mix with ATG middleweights. Could he mix it with them? Probably. But he hasn't yet shared the ring with a current elite fighter (maybe with the exception of welterweight Kel Brook) so to chuck his name in the mix with Hagler et al isn't yet justified. Let's see him step up to the plate in his own generation before granting him the privilege of being mentioned in the same breath as our sport's legends.
I'm good mate. I'm just upset about Tyson-Wlad falling through. Also, BJS isn't going to get much exposure now. That'll be cool about Joe and Jeff. Is Jeff still fighting at some level?
Except GG didn't drag a WW up, and you can't say for certain that he wouldn't take on a big challenge at a higher weight just because he hasn't done so as yet.
Yeah he is. He mentions how no matter what he does people always bring up the Calzaghe fight. Feel real bad for the guy. I talk to him on FB and he's one of the nicest guys out there, so add or follow him if youre on there yourself
Agreed. Funny though that Julian Jackson, Tommy Hearns and Gerald McClellan - to name but three examples off the top of my head - all managed to make tough fights at middleweight. All three ferocious punchers albeit Jackons lacked ultimate boxing pedigree. What's so unique about GGG in the history of boxing which makes him avoided like no other? Maybe it's protected rather than avoided? It's a pity as I rate him highly but he's being marketed as practically unbeatable and as such his management won't take risks with his precious '0'. I actually believe he would take the fights but those people making money off the back of him don't want the bubble to burst. I blame Oleg Hermann etc for this.
For me, it just comes down to circumstances again. The MW's you have mentioned were all great fighters. But they had the opportunities that GG hadn't had. We know that in the last 6 months, Canelo, Jacobs and BJS have all gone on record as not wanting to have faced him. But hopefully, all that is about to change.
