Yeah, I think Canleo - another protected '0' - is waiting for GGG to get old. So another 18-months or so I'm guessing. But not wanting to sound contradictory, but that's good management by Golden Boy. Canelo makes enough money fighting the likes of Smith without needing the risk of GGG. But GGG has yet to earn the real elite level money so the onus will eventually fall on him. Pity, politics always gets in the way...
Do you think its going to change? Someone on here made a great thread about how Gennady just totally threw his skills out the window against Kell to lure people in Was nasty seeing him eat all those flush shots, but jesus what a chin If his intention was to entice the cowards into fighting he probably achieved the opposite effect lol GGG is x10 better known than BJS in BJS' own country. BJS should just fight him and cash out. Win or lose he'll end up a very rich man off one fight, and could retire after if he wanted
When Golovkin fought Brook he fought a guy who's really a 154 lber but drained himself to 147. Golovkin is a natural MW, Beterbiev is not only a LHW, but he's a big one, to be honest he might even be a natural cruiser he's that big. So this would be not 2 but perhaps 3 weightclass difference.
It's interesting, because you can look from different perspectives. But the way Jacobs and BJS have been talking of late, Kell's performance seems to have given them both a huge confidence boost. I don't think they've been looking at how he just kept stalking Kell, I think they've been looking at how easy Kell was able to find him. I also think they were a bit envious of the attention that Kell and the fight received. So in my opinion, him taking on Kell was the best decision he ever made. Because within a few days BJS and Jacobs had changed their stance. I believe that K2 are currently deep in negotiations with Haymon for a December fight. Just a few days ago, I watched a video that BJS had uploaded where he seemed genuinely interested in a GG fight, and he said that Frank W will do everything he can to try and make it happen for early next year after he's had a tune up.
Are you saying GGG has the protected 0? Because Canelo don't have an 0 and his resume is much, much stronger than GGGs? Also Team GGG have gone on record to say Jacobs and Bjs want too much money (4mill each) but they want atleast 40 million to fight Canelo, 12 mill won't cut it.
No, No, No Golovkin should hold himself to a higher standard than that, the pus-sy was calling Canelo vs Khan a mockery and Canelo only dragged Khan up 8lbs. Khan had big height and reach over Canelo if we want to play that game as well. Beterbiev is a big lhw, seems bigger than Kovalev but GGG is no small 160lber that's for sure. 5ft10.5 has always been an average supermiddleweighy height. Ffs GGG is taller then Eubank, Benn and James Toney and about the same height as Roy Jones Jr, he's not short at all. He does have a small heart and internal tiny testes though
Stop man. Floyd's retired. If he started at 160 he probably would have ended at CW. You think he'd never leave middleweight? On what planet? Lets say there were money fights in each of the divisions above him. Floyd would keep going up until he maxed out, which he did going from 130 to 154. But, to say Floyd never fought a fight at a disadvantage tells me all I need to know haha. Remember the Oscar fight? So the guy was gifted with a long reach, and? To even put ggg in the same sentence as Floyd in terms of comparison is ludicrous and really deserves to have your boxing card revoked. I'm done.
Team GGG actively pursued the Brook fight, Loeffler and Hearn were negotiating the fight since the beginning of the year: http://www.***********.com/hearn-brook-asked-me-get-gennady-golovkin-fight-155--101012 (scene it) Brook wanted a 155 CW at first, then a 158, both were turned down: http://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/10260237/gennady-golovkin-would-fight-kell-brook Brook was their first pick, not Eubank, that much is obvious.
Again, it would have been nonsensical to have walked away from Kell and a big U.K. PPV to try and fight someone else on a different date. Utterly pointless. Fair enough, his criticism of Canelo came back to haunt him. But so what? He was well within his rights to criticise Canelo at the time, and there was a big difference in circumstances. Regarding your other points, I have never said GG was short or small. You must have me confused with another member.
Wow! I said it was just FUN to speculate about Floyd, but it seems you've got ultra defensive. Why on earth do you think Floyd would have fought at CW had he have been GG's size? Ha! Based on what? That's laughable. Although we obviously don't know for sure what he'd have done, we know how he's carried himself throughout his career. We know what he did with Marquez etc. Are those the actions of a guy who'd have fought huge CW's? I think not. Floyd always wanted everything his own way. Saying with confidence that he'd have fought CW's is a joke. You can't compare what he did at the lower weights and compare them to my scenario, because his circumstances would have been very different. Oscar is the only guy he fought that completely outsized him, as in height, reach and weight. I never said Floyd never fought at a disadvantage. What's with your last paragraph? Ha!
No. Kell was one of many potential options that's all. They didn't actively pursue him. I've seen the links before. Back then, GG was about to face Wade and then he was hoping that he was going to fight Canelo after he'd fought Khan. Yes, Kell was a potential option before they'd thought about Eubank. But what I'm saying is, Kell ended up being a last minute replacement for Eubank. GG signed a contract to fight Eubank. He'd signed it and then handed it back in. Then when Snr's ego went off the charts, Kell came in at the eleventh hour to save the promotion. They were initially going to the O2 to fight Eubank. It's silly for anyone to say that he dragged a WW up. He didn't drag Kell up, he simply accepted him as a last minute replacement.
