Massi was far from great himself and he got the best of Monzon.

Triple G beating Monzon is not out of question.

Stranger and more shocking things have happened in boxing history.

I missed this thread lol. Are we going by Monzon era or this era? GGG gets KO'ed by same day weigh in. Also don't think GGG can go 15 but let's burn some time. Carlos style is all wrong for GGG. He was like 6 feet to GGG's 5'10. Seeing how easily GGG gets hit and buckled by Brook. I can see Monzon keeping the short armed GGG at bay with his jab and catching the hook/hayemaker thrower GGG with his right hand. Rense, wash repeat. GGG's only chance would be to get Carlos on the ropes but Carlos could control guys with his jab alone and keep fights in the middle of the ring easily. Plus once GGG tastes that right hand a few times and it will happen, doubt you'll see the same guy who's destroying the cans he's been fighting.

You won't see that bravado s h I t. I promise. GGG would have to go all out in the first few rounds for optimal chance as well. The further the fight goes along, the more it tips in Carlos favor.

    This thread made my day.

We must also factor i the improvement of athletes over time too. Monzons training was not as advanced and scientific as GGG's is today. Also GGG has a great jab - not sure Escopeta's was any better to be honest....
GGG would not lose to any of Monzons opponents and would crush most of them I feel.

Aesthetically Monzon looked nothing special, he wasn't particularly easy on the eye.
He was though a very subtle and skilled operator, he never seemed stressed in there and always seemed to be in control.
He always controlled distance had an excellent jab, and his right hand caused considerable damage.
One of his biggest virtues was patience, he gradually simply broke opponents down.
I don't see anything in triple G for all I love him to suggest it would be any different with him.
