Through all the scuttlebutt, don't think I've seen a poll. Now appears this unlikely dark-horse of a match-up could in fact be on the docket, so let's get to voting on it just in case.
Spike was getting his head bounced around by Douglas before he got to Douglas. Spike aint getting to GGG. GGG by highlight reel KO. Unless GGG has truly deterioriated then GGG by one sided UD
I think Spike most likely doesn't win, even if GGG has remained on the same proportionate downward trending curve of deterioration as heading into Canelo I. That said, am I the only person that doesn't think Golovkin is automatically knocking every middleweight out anymore? The last actual middleweight he knocked out was Dominic Wade, and I don't think GGG now is the same beast that he was even 2 years ago when he fought Wade. I'm saying GGG on points.
I dunno man, the Gennady that fought Jacobs and Canelo didn't seem like the same guy that was scoring highlight reel kayos back in the day.
I agree BUT Spike is a favorable matchup for GGG. Spike is an all or nothing fighter, i watched the Douglas fight and he looked superb there, really sharp and fast, good shape, but he is too easy to hit. Douglas is a featherfisted mug so Spike destroyed him in the mid later rounds after he ran out of gas but still Spike won't survive GGG. I think maybe he can grab two or three rounds before getting knocked out but i can not imagine any other outcome than GGG by TKO/KO, prob round 7-10. Or, i would prefer this, Spike catches him with a big right hand before and GGG is going out. But can not imagine that tbh, GGG too good defensively and still despite his age a way too fast.
I actually don't rate O'Sullivan at all, so still GGG by KO despite agreeing with @IntentionalButt about the status of the current Gennady.
I think we are seeing some proof of that right now too. When the Saunders fight fell through in early 2016, GGG's team tried to make a Korobov fight (the IBF scuttled it by enforcing Wade as mandatory). Korobov was pretty much the best available opponent. This time, GGG could have chosen Korobov or Derevyanchenko who are both clearly better than Spike. But his team know that they're risky fights for current Gennady, so they're getting Spike.
His last two opponents being the best he's faced might have something to do with it! No no .ib ..gennady would have to have deteriorated beyond all recognition to lose to Spike... He absolutely slaughters spike. ..(and I like spike...he's practically a neighbour of mine actually so I see him often and I have no hard feelings towards him at all)
GGG will score a knockout in this fight. Spike walks forward willingly into GGGs blast radius so he will have no problems applying his power shots onto Spikes dome. Spike is a really small middle weight too and really should be at 154 pounds
Golvkin beat Alvarez (yeah yeah draw whatever, he won). Until two weeks ago, Alvarez was higher than Golovkin on many people's P4P's. Golovkin is also the biggest dude in boxing. He's not ducking. He just a dude.
the only thing the spike fight will tell us is how much GGG has declined. Could be interesting in that sense, to much some scratch on a GGG UD win
