    Thanks. :good

I don't really want to see Ishe take this beating at this point of his career. He's crafty and skilled enough to stay in there with GGG, and that could lead to a long sustained bludgeoning, ala Ouma. :-(

I think Macklin is flying too high right now off his last fight to want to run into a roadblock like Golovkin. I would love to see this fight, personally.

Yeah, this fight kind of turns me off for a number of reasons, that being one of them. I have hope Geale doesn't duck out. Shaw seemed pretty adamant and smug when he said they aren't running from anybody a few weeks back.

As I've said, it isn't that big a step back IMO.

The only opponent Golovkin's had who was hands down better than Smith (again, at the time he met them) was Proksa.

Ouma at that stage wasn't really better than current Smith, nor was that version of Simon. After that, it's a fairly thin pool of quality on Golovkin's resume - and I'm very high on GGG.

Nunez? Tapia? Fuchigami? Gardner? Those are his next best wins after his top 3 to date - and none are even close to even an undersized and 34 year old Sugar Shay.

I don`t mind this fight. The reality is that GGG vs the best in the division is only going to happen if GGG build his profil in the states and those fights become high risk high reward fights.....as opposed to them currently being high risk low reward. The only way he`s going to build his profile is either fighting the best in the other top fighters who don`t have huge names (geale pirog). Or by fighting guys who are well known but are a level below and will make him look like the ****ing monster he is. Right now the rest of the big guns are out of action. So GGG needs fights in america that make him look as good as he is and it has to be against name opponents. GGG vs Smith accomplishes everything he needs.

It's a good match up. It will show where Golovkin is, and if he really is the real deal, or if he is another power punching guy who can't deal with a good defensive fighter.

sounds like you are justifying this fight by pointing out its shitty, but still better than the really shitty guys he has fought in the past.

this will be his 7th WBA middleweight title fight. GGG is ranked as the #3 best in the world, he probably should be #2 behind sergio.

and he is fighting a JUNIOR middleweight thats ranked close to #40 in the world.
its just unacceptable at this point and actually kinda shameful on his part.

    Well, yeah, basically. :yep

I actually don't like this match-up, as a fan of Golovkin or Smith. It's far from ideal, but it's not cause to go full-on Chicken Little either.

    Can't really argue with that.

...but Shay's people (PBF/Ellerbee) went looking for options to get their man paid after Omar Henry's blatant duck and retraction of his call-out, and the Golovkin camp responded since...well...who the hell else with any remote name value is eager to step in with him?

It is a hopeless matchup unless Golovkin's management is really out of options. They would never agree to it unless Geale already has made certain that he is ducking Golovkin and will continue to duck. Do remember that Sturm has avoided Golovkin for years and gotten away with it.

But hell, for a fight on 8.dec - who else would step up? Nobody at 160 I guess..

Personally I would rather see Golovkin try to deal with someone like Arthur Abraham, Andre Dirrel or Robert Stieglitz. Possibly even Sakio Bika. It would give fans a much better idea of how Golovkin deals with someone a tad bigger than himself. A bad showing and we could forget Golovkin-Ward ever happening. A good showing and we would have a real star at hand.

Where are all the Big names in the Middleweight Division,Golovkin is 3 in the World so it would be ideal if number 1 or 2 would fight him, probably still hiding under the Bed,as for the Smith V Golovkin fight I think Proska would beat Smith another easy win for Gennady.!!!

    i hear ya
i dont blame ishe , who wouldnt accept a free gift title fight? i blame GGG to a small point, because after all his fights when they ask "whats next?" its never anyone close to the reality to come.
i'm more pissed off that its just accepted as in some logical move or "learning experience" by average joe fan. i'm amazed that the WBA isnt somehow called out on this "world title fight" with a guy thats clearly not ranked at all as a middleweight . but i do know there is a slim to none chance HBO will air this fight....

Assuming Golovkin is fully prepared and doesn't sleepwalk into the ring.

Remember, he managed to make a fight with shot Ouma tougher than it needed to be at times...

that's true but his 7 fights before that were all 1-3 round ko's and 1 5rd ko I think he might have just wanted to get some rounds in or he just didn't care cause Ouma could never possibly hurt him not really sure.
