and you remeber I.B. ...ouma was a former world champion at 154 at least..and also went 12 rounds as a middleweight with undisputed champion Jermain Taylor
where as Ishe Smith has owned 1 title - USBA welterweight title , about 8 years ago... :D

Like Ishe. Don't like his chances in this bout.

I'd like to see more of a test for Golovkin.

I was hoping ggg would wait till geale signed or didn't sighn dec31st..
Looks like hbo did a deal with both to stall a fight for next year..ggg will
Kill this guy...at the end of the day no one wants to fight ggg and he needs to stay
    Active..

Decent fight. I think Golovkin takes him out, though.

Golovkin needs better opponents than Ishe but it's a decent stay-busy sort of fight.

I think people are putting way too much stock into the Ouma fight. I believe the best way to fight a pressure fighter is to fight back the same exact way. (Unless you're some elite fighter like a Pacquiao or Mayweather). Yeah, Golovkin was hit by Ouma, but Golovkin was one of few fighters to actually stop Ouma. Remember Ouma has been in with a lot of high caliber fighters like Taylor, Rubio, Martirosyan, and so forth.

I dont totally mind this fight, but at the same time, for all this hype around G3, and the screams from the rafters on how martinez needs to fight him, I dont think its too much to ask that he fight a top 10 middleweight in this fight.

A very short nite for Smith. He is there just to showcase the destructive power of GGG.

Sturm? Macklin? Rubio? Lee? Geale? I don't see any of those dudes fighting Golovkin any time soon. Golovkin does not dry any crowd. K2 is going to keep him busy this year and next and by that time, hopefully he can sell tickets. The risk needs to be worth the reward.

Smith isn't a bad opponent for Golovkin. He's getting up there a bit in years but he's always been a solid fighter but gets stopped by Golovkin.

I would have prefered a better fight for Golovkin but his team has mentioned they planned a smaller fight at the end of the year before trying to get back on HBO in the spring(with presumably a more dangerous opponent). With that considered, Smith isn't too bad.

I have the impression IB has a financial interest in Ishe Smith.

Now that Golovkin's promotional issues are over with and he has HBO behind him with some momentum from a big performance, there is no reason for him to be digging through the garbage for opponents anymore.

Smith has underperformed in every major fight he's ever had. There was a spell where ESPN didn't even want him on FNF. There's no reason at all for this fight to take place. Medi Boudla or Ossie Duran would be more deserving opponents for GGG than Sugar Shay. I'm hoping Rubio gets the selection, screw ISSS, the guy's lost to Sechew Powell and Sergio More enough said.

Does HBO plan on showing Golovkin's interim fight in December, regardless of opponent or would they turn down the fight if Smith takes the bout?

GGG could have picked a better opponent than this. Smith has a good chin, but he's a bit undersized, not that Golovkin is huge.

What, you mean like I'm an employee of #TheMoneyTeam? :blood

    I wish. :yep

Nah, he's just a hard-working and easy-to-root-for boxer who also happens to be a Facebook friend of mine. (giving me the inside track on his career moves, which he posts about frequently)

The garbage, really? 2nd best opponent to date?

Actually, most people feel he did more than enough to beat Guerrero - which would have been pretty major at the time.

Do you work at ESPN? Otherwise...link?

Except the reasons for both sides, which have already been detailed exhaustively. (For Golovkin, staying busy and beating a guy with a "name, possibly becoming the first to ever stop him. For Smith, payday and miracle fast-track title shot...)

    Now you're just being ridiculous.

Ossie coming off two losses? Mehdi coming off four wins with one stoppage (three against tomato cans) since getting manhandled and KTFO by Kessler? Over Smith who's coming off three wins, the last two fairly solid?

Well, it would be a chance to unify the WBA with the prestigious WBF.

Have you seen the "loss" to Mora?
