I think Corbett boxes Golovkin's ears off. GGG really has no advantages here.

Corbett pretty easily. A top 20 Cruiserweight deals with a top 20 Middleweight no problem.

Well, best case scenario Corbett is a Cruiser then, still, he's not touching GGG. His "lateral movement" was good for the 1800's not for a guy who has won Olympic medals and world amateur Championships, facing Cubans, Olympic Champions and Val Barker winners, I'm sure GGG has seen a fair share of lateral movement and footwork. Seriously people need to go to a gym and have a reality check, these 1800's guys were lucky if they fought a couple of guys with real boxing skills during their career, Golovkin's sparring partners would **** Corbett up. Just watch the Canelo fights, the skill level displayed between them is just too advanced for them. There's a reason why lightweights aren't knocking heavyweights down anymore, boxing evolved. Tunney is an exception tho, he had a great understanding of boxing techniques and I think that with modern techniques he could be world ranker today.

And I could go back to 1066 and single handedly win the battle of Hastings.

They can't compete with me physically. Training and nutrition has progressed to the point I could easily take them all on. Not to mention IQ has increased on average.

They wouldn't be a match for me at all.

You are an average joe, I'm sure a modern army would have no issue whatsoever. Golovkin is not an average joe, he has faced several world champions and comes from one of the best amateur programs in the world.

Seriously, back in the day a guy like Eddie Eagan would go and win olympic gold in boxing then train for TWO WEEKS in order to win an olympic gold medal in bobsled. Those guys didn't even had to worry about black fighters or fighters from other countries, these days third world countries have elite trainers and modern training methods combined with sports science that have elevated the level of competition all over the world while most of the guys back then did half of their sparring on street brawls.

Mark Spitz won seven golds and broke a world record with every single one, he wouldn't have won a single medal in 2016.

How the hell is it that we can see Corbett sucks and they can't?

I don't think he sucks. He clearly moved well for his time and is deservedly ranked in boxing history as one of the greats of his time but people who think he can beat modern fighters clearly know nothing about the current state of boxing training methods let alone the techniques developed by great trainers after he passed. Willie Monroe Jr. would look like Pernell Whitaker against guys from 1800.

And don't get me wrong, we are all humans, we all bleed, there are freaks at every era who could do well in any era because boxing is not about who's the fastest or strongest like in other sports but Corbett isn't one of those.

Sure. That much is true. No arguments.

Agree. The best argument for Corbett's greatness is that the guy beating him would have learned the basis of the techniques he uses, as knowledge handed down from himself. That's why its hard to compare eras. I'd take Golovkin today over the Corbett I see on that film anytime. On the other hand, if James boxed today, he'd also have the advantage of getting all the 100+ years of techniques ingrained in him like GGG did. He'd probably be bigger and better conditioned too, although, that's just a guess.

Yeah but I'm talking about the best of a millennium here. I'm sure I'd crush them.

How many middle weight champions beat Heavyweight champions ( cursers ) ? It's pretty rare.

Mendoza you know as well as I do that the weights are not 160 and 200+. They'll probably be 10lbs off on fight night, Corbett will be similar to how Jacobs was vs GGG.
