It was on the contract that whoever won between GGG and Derevyanchenko had to defend against Szeremeta next, Derevyanchenko said it himself.

Who? Just Kovalev and Jacobs? GGG already beat Jacobs. Derevyanchenko aint a bad name.

Hopefully after this fight GGG can go after Charlo, Andrade, or go up to 168lbs himself since Canelo snuck out DAZNS back window to avoid a third GGG fight. I'm sure he still has GGG nightmares where the decision goes to the right guy.

Krusher was solid name for Canelo and at 175 for a guy who was never a real 155 fighter

I think GGG has only one major warrior fight in him and he is still holding on for Ginger

I think this is a fight where GGG can only look bad, if he wipes him out then he beat a overmatched cherry pick. If he struggles he'll be seen as near finished. I'm leaning toward the second scenario.

Well, Kamil Szeremeta is rated #6 by Ring Magazine. Anyone in the top 10 is an acceptable title defense.

The trouble for GGG has been bad judging and avoidance, Its not like Mayweather, Cotto or Martinez were eager to fight him.

I think he should either retire or fight someone his own age.

Oscar made a promise. Basically played both sides, be it accidentally or not. You had a 3 way partnership in which all 3 had a different understanding.

Not too sure about that. The mandatory was satisfied when Golovkin stepped in after Canelo relinquished the belt.

The mandatory wasn't due for another year.

Like when Fury was stripped for not facing Vyacheslav Glazkov , Charles stepped in and satisfied that mandatory obligation. The IBF didn't order a mandatory defence for another year , that was when Joshua fought Takam who was a stand in for Pulev.

Golovkin actually requested the IBF order this mandatory defence early back in 2019.

Kamil Szeremeta beat nobody from the IBF top 15. How did he become mandatory :eyebrow2:

How is he ranked #6 by Ring :confundio1:

I've been asking this question for a while, and he has been in the Ring top 10 for a while.

People will complain if he isn't champ, they will complain if he is stripped, and they will complain if he fights his mandatory. Sometimes you just can't win.He just wanted to get it out of the way, so it don't get in the way of future more important plans.By the way, it's been over a year since his fight with Derevyanchenko. GGGS just on the ball and appreciates his title, nothing wrong with that.

I think a few of his European title defences may have been in the IBF top 15 at some point but even then I remember he became mandatory by virtue of being ranked at 3rd after GGG and Derevyanchenko when they fought for the vacant title. He was made mandatory for the title the day they fought for it, he was on the undercard.
