Round 6

Perez slugs away on the inside, throwing to the body as Mosquera responds with his own power punches upstairs. Now Mosquera throws some uppers to the body as Perez takes a step back. They are trading and Mosquera's quicker hands are winning him the battle. Perez gets slapped with hard hooks above the kidney. Perez steps through with a nice right uppercut to the chin that also serves to stabilize him as he props himself against Mosquera, but the local fighter is getting in a lot more licks than the Venezuelan. Mosquera still won't bring his hands up on the inside and gets cracked a bit but is still landing enough of his slapping hooks to keep Perez from getting off too much at once.

They tried to keep fighting after the bell and the ref had to spatula them apart.

Mosquera started thumping his chest and freaking out.

 

Round 7

They stay pressed in close and battle around the ring. Perez is straightening out his shots and putting them together in deuces. Mosquera is trying to hang with him and landing some of his slapping hooks backing up, but looking uncomfortable with the pace and range being dictated for him.

Round 8

Mosquera pops his right jab and then squeezes his floating right glove around the left jab of Perez, snatching it out of the air. Perez patiently walks him into a corner and starts to quietly lay a beating on him, using uppercuts and overhand rights to punish Mosquera from high and low. Mosquera - thus deterred from either crouching down or leaning straight back - tries to move off to the side but finds that Perez is timing him and delivering laser straight jabs right where his face winds up, anticipating him. Mosquera does the last thing he can think of - steps inside and stifles Perez, pushing him into the ropes.

Round 9

Mosquera immediately looks to cloak Perez, staying in and wrestling to pin his arms down. Perez fights his way free and cracks Mosquera with a right hand before getting tied up more securely and shrugging at the referee, who calls a break. Perez is hopping in place with a spring in his knees, tossing his 1-2 at Mosquera. Hands down, and Mosquera is caught AGAIN with a big right hand. Mosquera ties up. Slapping hook to the body by Mosquera. Perez hops in place. Jab to the body and a HUGE right hand misses as Perez lunges in. Mosquera grabs him, holding him in close. Perez taps either side of his head. Now a chopping right down the runway. Mosquera flurries down low but isn't landing anywhere near the quality of shots Perez has had this round.

Round 10

They touch gloves.

Perez hooks, and Mosquera pretends he's hooking with him only to grab. HARD left hook to the body by Perez. Now an uppercut. Tied up again. Mosquera holds onto him and walks him backward across the ring. The referee is having to intervene every few seconds. Perez is held as Mosquera slaps him with right hooks to the back. Both men awkwardly lean off to the side and slap at each other. Mosquera is staggered by a right. Mosquera backs to the ropes, countering with flurries before grabbing again. Big reaching left hook misses by Perez as he comes an inch off the canvas. Mosquera is now slapping out with hooks to the body but they're all arm punches. Mosquera ties up when Perez ignores his shots. HUGE right hand by Perez, and he falls down from the force of landing it and bouncing his fist off Mosquera's chin!! :shock: The glove touched the canvas, and the referee correctly calls it a slip as Mosquera had not thrown a punch at that moment.

I guess it was only a 10-rounder after all. Boxrec has it listed as 11, which may have been the original plan before they changed it to fit the schedule of the televised card for programming reasons. (American TV does that sometimes).

 

The participants in the main event are even smaller, and even less likely to produce a KO either way. :yep
