In fairness Golovkin has been trying to fight Sturm and N'Dam for ages to no avail, and it's very hard for him to entice decent challengers because he hasn't been able to fight in Germany or the US. None of that changes the fact though that this is a bad defense and the WBA is a wretched organization.

how about ditch the worthless belt and go after another ABC champion ? as it stands a wba regular champ as opposed to the wba super champ is kind of a joke anyway, and maybe guys like Golovkin will figure this out.....

I think that would be a more reasonable response if he hadn't been butting heads with Universum for the past 2-3 years. Beyond that, none of the recent middleweight beltholders has really shown an interest in fighting the best opponents in the recent past; being a dangerous fighter from Kazakhstan with no real name value doesn't really make him an attractive option, especially when his promotional situation means the potential venues for his fights are always limited. If and when he signs with a US promoter after his contract is finally up then I wouldn't be surprised to see him forgo the belt if it's necessary to get better fights.

Does anyone actually find iceman71's "Boxrec data dump" threads helpful and/or thought-provoking? :think

Let me rephrase: who wears a helmet out of bed, show of hands! :hi:

pretty much one of the worst starts to a title reign ever as far as competition level goes, possibly the worst, this dude is an embarassment of a paper champ. Golovkin is making Chavez JR look like Duran for taking on Manfredo, pretty sad when JCC Jr is figthing better competition in title defences. Golovkin's going the Shumenov route of easy defenses against no hopers to hold a belt hostage

You forgot the part where Ouma whipped up on Vanes Martirosyan but was robbed of the decision...

    Anyway, nice boxrec research.

if it werent for boxrec...you would have no idea who Lajuan Simon is or how ****ing bad he sucks....
ok, even though ouma lost but really won...what about his other 4 losses that earned him a shot? now stfu .... wtf do you think boxrec is for? when you go on to the front page do they need a disclaimer that says " be careful to not reference, some people will accuse of coming here and any real fight has no business here"
    youre a tool

Those stats are very legit, but nobody wants to here them. We all know he needs to step up, we all know. No use even posting these. But this will make a funny argument. Let is begin!

Never heard of GOLOVKIN but SIMON definitely doesn't (didn't) 'suck'. I thought he was going to upset Abraham and years back in Philly he was considered by alot of locals as the top talent. Saw him fight a few times in person and was impressed, never got a chance to watch the SYLVESTER or MIRANDA fight.
