Gennady Golovkin vs Lajuan Simon WBA World middleweight title

I don't think people understand Golovkin is fighting without a promoter at the moment so he has no money behind him to get a high level opponent. Further more he's tried to make fights with guys like N'Jikam, Manfredo, Geale, Lee, I.Smith, Zbik just to get some recognition and none will take. Wait til December when he's free to sign with a promoter, that's when his career will really start. Some one said he's make Chavez jr look like Duran, but last December he ran Chavez out of the gym, then months later ran Angulo out of gym.

As far a Simon goes, I'm actually excited about this fight because Simon's never stopped before, and took some big bombs from Abraham. Sylvester and Ayala out boxed him, but Golovkin will be looking to make a statement and not just win by decision.

 

Allowing AA to land bombs = sub-par defense

Going the distance with Ayala = sub-par power

Golovkin will feast on this piece of meat.

I do not always agree with the Iceman but it is good to have a former fighter take the time to contribute.

If Golovkin wins impressively it should be time to get an influential promoter and start making bigger fights. At this stage of his career and current promotional issues, I am fairly indifferent toward the choice of opponent.

 

Golovkin decisioned Jantuah who KO'd Rubio in 1, and I think you remember who Rubio is.


Seriously though, if Michel had gotten Lemieux some fights with guys like Ouma and Simon, he wouldn't have gotten TKO'd against Rubio. Of course Golovkin should school Simon, but more importantly he'll go rounds and get some good work in.

If Lemieux hadn't tried to take down the Great Wall of China in the first part of the fight and managed his emotions instead, maybe he wouldn't have gotten TKO'd by Rubio. LOL but yeah I get what you're saying, and I agree in saying the gap between (anybody on David's resume) and Rubio was significant enough that more of us -including me- should have seen this coming.
