Gennady Golovkin vs. Makoto Fuchigami & Zaurbek Baysangurov vs. Michel Soro RBR

Earlier in this thread I compared Soro to HNN, and suggested this may have been an upset to look out for.

I almost laid some vCash on him at 11/5, really regretting that I didn't now.

 

Round 4

Soro is throwing quick jabs out of his tight guard, circling around Baysangurov and dropping his elbows when Baysangurov goes to the body. Baysangurov keeps getting turned and jabbed, and hit with the right hand to the bottom of the jawline - never quite totally flush, as Baysangurov dips his jowls down to his chest to absorb some impact, but scoring. Right hand by Baysangurov. Good exchange. Soro gets the last word in before the bell. Right hand, stiff left jab to the nose.

Ah, well Bundrage hurt him with a clubbing blow (almost a rabbit punch) too, IIRC. :yep

 

Round 5

Soro is jabbing to set up his right hand, fired over the top as a line drive shot and then whipped underneath as a quick unseen uppercut. Baysangurov is trying to counter with his predictable straight jabs, but leaving himself an open target on the inside. Baysangurov is hurt!! Big uppercut!! Soro tries to whip at him up close, forcing the effort to finish. Baysangurov hangs in there, leaning back straight and tall but keeping his hands up, jabbing back. Soro is walked across the ring nearly into a corner by some strong left jabs and a hard overhand right - all blocked but forceful and discouraging. Clinch. Body flurry by Baysangurov. Soro uses some slick lean-over movement to slip some Baysangurov uppercuts. Soro leans almost down past the waist while sticking his left arm up in Baysangurov's face, slipping and parrying the hard rights Baysangurov is trying to drop on him.
