Another GGG one sided fight. He's 30+ Why is he ducking Andre Ward? "I'll fight Chavez Jr at 168" "I want to clean up the middleweight division before moving up"
No money in a Ward fight, and Ward is a selfish prima donna who will demand a home ref who lets him headbutt and otherwise foul. Not worth it, while Chavez is a big money fight. Ward refuses to move up to 175 to fight Kovalev, Hopkins and Stevenson (and he avoided a fight with Stevenson at 168). This after Ward said he'd fight anyone at 175: From May 12, 2012: http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/7916213/chad-dawson-andre-ward-bout-works Andre Ward "I am ready to fight the best 168- and 175-pounders that are out there," Ward told ESPN.com in a recent interview. "At this point, a big fight at 175 is interesting to me. I'm willing to fight anyone at '68 or '75."
I hope that Rubio really brings it like he normally does. I got Golovkin by a very late stoppage victory.
Yeah. A lot of different variables. Rubio is coming off an ideal work schedule for his age lately - not grueling but never staying out long enough to get rusty (with any rust he may have accrued since the Miranda knockout last July being shaken off against Spada in April) - and has been keeping sharp without taking much damage...whereas in 2009 when he fought Pavlik he was just four months removed from the rather taxing Ornelas war. Also, the maturer Rubio now might not make all the same mistakes that Pavlik did and just soak up punches before changing his tactics. You almost have to assume he will be mindful of the Pavlik loss heading into this and treat it like a learning experience and cautionary tale for himself. On the other hand, Golovkin is better than Pavlik ever was at creating opportunities to hurt an opponent without having everything laid on a silver platter as so many did for Kelly just from sheer intimidation (as did Pantera, Rubio, Taylor, and many others who played right into his heavy hands)
Rubio will come to battle, true to form. I just don't see him beating GGG. Donaire-Walters also has excitement written all over it. This may be the fight of the night. Kudos to HBO
Russian LHW Maxim Vlasov who's sparred Rubio and like Rubio also trains out of Robert Garcia's gym says Rubio can't beat Golovkin. Got to commend him for his honesty. He said it while he was actually at Garcia's gym too. Most people would've sat on the fence there or at least tried to be diplomatic. 1:05 [YT]iT7OIBCMQFI[/YT]
