Nunn struggled with Barkley so he would struggle immensely with Golovkin but GGG never faced anyone as skilled and agile as Nunn so it's a good fight. I favor GGG by late stoppage after being down on the cards, I think he'd break Nunn down
I like prime Nunn via decision but wouldn't be surprised at all if GGG stopped him. Both are very underrated imo.
I see Golovkin ducking low and timing Nunn upright with the similar left Toney landed, because Golovkin was even better at that. Toney beat Nunn in a style which wasn’t his, but it indeed was Golovkin’s.
Nunn was really good, but I don't think he was tough. In my opinion he might give Golovkin all he could handle ... for a while. Then it will be bedtime for Mike.
I liked Nunn the boxer but I think this is GGGs fight to win. Golovkin s chin allows him to walk through Nunn's best shots His jab disrupts Nunn rhythm. Body work slow s the legs. I see G stopping a busted up Nunn around the 11 th round, with him perhaps slightly behind on the cards.
I was a big GGG fan. He was skilled, and, strong as an ox. But, I think prime Nunn is a terrible match-up for him. I just re-watched some of Gennady's prime fights, and just don't see how he deals with the tools Nunn brings to the table. Nunn is significantly taller, has a longer reach, and is MUCH faster of both hand and foot. Quite honestly, I am not even sure that GGG is a harder puncher than Nunn. If he is, the difference appears to be negligible. And, another thing that has always bothered me about Golovkin is that he never really seemed to kick it into the highest gear when he needed to. Against the B and C level guys GGG typically faced, it never made a difference. But, it definitely cost him against Canelo. (Mind you, I had GGG squeaking both fights out, but, his lack of putting his foot on the gas opened the door for him to get screwed in those fights.) Against Nunn, Gennady would be facing a man with a combination of speed and skill that he never encountered during his career. If GGG had some problems with a guy like Daniel Jacobs, he is in for a very long night with the far superior Michael Nunn.
Nunn decision. GGG gets hit a lot for a great fighter. Steve Rolls was hitting him consistently, and hard--GGG was just able to take the shots. It's part of his style to rely on his unshakeable chin and steady rhythm to be cool under fire and land better shots. His ability to remain comfortable while breaking opponents down is great. Danny Jacobs was throwing tons of punches and getting off at angles on GGG a lot. GGG's power and overall advantages from where they were in their respective careers saved him that fight. I think that's how Nunn would do it, but with way more volume and firepower and skills. GGG's style worked against the guys that GGG fought. He never saw someone as good as Nunn. Nunn would be active in those phases where Canelo let it slip in addition to being a larger southpaw with pop and skills. GGG is very steady but I think his steady approach to fighting would allow Nunn the time to get going and stay in front.
