Don't get me wrong, Ishida is a good scalp. But I wonder why someone of his body type and style would take this fight at all. We're pretty close to April 1.

    Round 6

Erdei is jabbing, moving in and out and then inevitably to his left. Everything about Erdei is calm, unflappable. Grachev goes to the body. Erdei is lingering a bit close, but able to pull back and slip head shots or take them in a glancing manner or skidding off his chest. Erdei still has the jab bouncing regularly off Grachev's face.

    10-9 Erdei

    59-55 Erdei

I can't think of many guys who retain that much speed into their late 30's.

Hell, Cory Spinks hemorrhaged more than half his hand speed by his early 30's.

:yep I was confused as to why Grachev was the favorite. I thought I was missing something, but eh...:shrug

:yep Grachev is just a fighter and is designed in such a way that his style works and is a style that's a bit of a nightmare to figure out.

That would be about the purest boxer vs. puncher match-up you could possibly make of the division's elite.

(except Dawson vs. Cloud, I suppose)

Talent isn't everything. There are intangibles like ring intelligence (not making mistakes) and being mentally tough. Hopkins isn't the most talented guy but he has the intangibles down more than almost any other fighter.

    Round 7

Erdei is getting punished now when he puts out the left jab, slapped with left hooks as he leaves it stagnating a heartbeat too long. Grachev is touching the body and making Erdei circle away refusing to engage much. Grachev is timing the jab with those whopper hooks, some to the back of the head.

    10-9 Grachev

    68-65 Erdei
