An elite athlete can't doesn't build a cardio at age 28. Canelo will always have stamina issues, no matter what. IMO, he doesn't have the right muscular fiber type and his upper body is too muscular. He has been doing better and better with this limitation but I don't think he can ever improve his stamina.

I tell you, Hopkins let the cat out of the bag.......................Hopkins said El Pollo would beat Golovkin like SOB Ward beat Kovalev, go to the body, but he means go to the testicles! Wonder if Tony Weeks will be the referee? Byrd, Byrd and Byrd will be the judges...............

I'm sure Oscar and Bob Bennett will find one.....................

call Bob Bennett, tell him you want fair judges, referee, for the Golovkin/El Pollo fight...........this is his number, 702-486-2575 this number was put up on The Fight Game, by Jim Lamply on HBO, 702-486-2575 I called it not long after the fight................it works, but we need more complaints...........

He brought too much mass into the fight, and he puts too much power on EVERY punch.

How would having a training camp that focuses more on stamina, carrying less mass, and not throwing every punch as a home run, how would that not improve his stamina?

Canelo went for a similar tactic to AJ. Build the upper body to be more muscular at the cost of stamina, increases strength but limits the amount of time they can box in rounds.

Sorry but I disagree with rounds 2 and 3. Consensus for people that even had Canelo lose gave him those rounds. I agree with round 1. HBO and compubox stats tried their best to agenda that one for G but Max and Roy didn’t get the memo. They both argued with Jim about landed punches.

Of course Canelo got a middle round and it’s hard not to give him rounds 10-12. IB, your score contradicts your thread on scoring you made not too long ago. Grant it I didn’t bother to read any of your rounds and skipped to the result but wow. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

He has improved his stamina over the year but it will ALWAYS be quite poor for an elite boxer at this point. His cardio is poor for such an athlete and it will always be. He has to deal with that.

Canelo will have more or less the same exact stamina in the rematch. Having watched his entire pro career, I've tracked immense progress in his cardio since his teens but all that has amounted to a climb from "atrocious" to "average". By the age of 28 with half a lifetime devoted to a set of ingrained and scantly tweaked or altered training habits, you're not going to have somebody all of a sudden experience a surge in that category. His conditioning has peaked.

This was an extremely close fight and I myself as everyone in attendance felt Canelo swept the 1st 3rd. In no way did Golovkin confortibly win that match & likewise for Canelo. Any wide scorecards and cries of robbery are clearly biased conjecture
