Prime GGG is a better middleweight than Hearns,,,,that's not even arguable . I think the consensus here is right, Golovkin stops Tommy

 

When he was older more. Andries was a brawler and Hearns didn't brawl him he didn't have to. When he was younger he didn't have to. he hit guys and he would dominate more. After Hagler he seemed to brawl more and his balance was worse and he tried to win a brawl. Most skilled guy cutting off the ring? Against the guys he fought. Did he cut the ring off well against Canelo even in the first fight? I think GGG is a little overrated. He is a good fighter strong, but overrated in that he fought rather weak competition. Even Jacobs pushed him, and Hearns is better than Jacobs. That speaks for itself. This is about level of opposition and an elite.

Huh? Golovkin and Hagler are nothing alike.

 

Hearns was fortunate to escape the Roldan and Kinchen fights without being ko’d. Golovkin gets the job done, mid-rounds.

 

GGG reminds me of a bigger Tszyu for some reason...

Hearns definitely lacked durability at 160, but I have trouble seeing GGG landing consistenly enough to break him down.

I'm sure I'll catch flack for this, but I think GGG's power is overrated. I see him as mostly a triples-hitter, not necessarily a home-run hitter.

I also suspect his chin hasn't been tested enough to state he has the chin hes made out to have.

I see GGG agreeing to box and chase, eating jabs and straight, sharp rights, all the while the quality punches in combination require to hurt Hearns don't ever come because of the incoming.

I'm not totally against GGG winning by stoppage, I just think Hearns is too long, too sharp, too smart to be consistently hit.



In other words, Hearns gets there consistently first.

Blasted out James Shuler early. But who knows what would have happened if Shuler had a chance to get started?

 

GGG was 35+ & 36+ yrs old for the Canelo fights. ODH worked his behind the scene magic with those in power.

What ifs on a first round knockout? Tommy's success in that fight was dependent on the lefts to the body, which helped open up the gap between the gloves of Shuler

 

That Kinchen fight was not middleweight. That was at 168 for the WBO title. And take this into consideration. Barkley was leaning over with bruised ribs.. Had Hearns not been careless in that fight chances are he gets a round 4 TKO over Barkley, and who really stopped BArkley that way? Not Nunn or Kalambay. And Benn stopped Barkley on a the 3 knockdown rule.
