George bellows/royal academy/jack dempsey/the noble art

    Bit left field this one but for anyone who's got the faintest interest in art i'd recommend going to see the george Bellows exhibition at the Royal Academy.
    there's a load of his boxing pictures in the exhibition. have never seen boxing depicted by artists before and have to say they were stunning,.

    2 famous fights are depicted - jack dempsey v luis firpo in 1923 and jack johnson v james jeffries the original 'great white hope' but there are also some superb stuff showing the unlicensed fights that took place in new york clubs.
