Also, Moore struggled with pressure fighters who didn't give him space to operate. Patterson was much faster than past prime Moore and he overwhelmed him. Rocky was relentless as hell, he threw more punches in Moore fight than Shavers did in entire life.

Meanwhile Shavers was a crude slugger who had mediocre chin and poor conditioning. These kind of fighters were ideal for Moore to look good against them.

How many fights must one have to be considered a “HW”? I guess 70 isn’t enough.

You can fight 300 fights at "hw" that if your physical prime was at mw and lhw you never will be considered a hw, you would be a talented small guy who fought against some hws. Archie moore was not a hw why can't you deal with this?

the chin of moore against HEAVYWEIGHTS punchers was literally ****. And his power was mediocre in the hw division specially if he fought real heavyweights. And not 185 pounders

The only thing good about Shavers was his power and precision. He had a lot of heart, but didn't have the chin, something that his era required.

Archie Moore’s best stretch of his career was at LHW and HW. His record speaks for itself at HW.

Please explain what HWs his chin was “****” against? He was 64-3-2 at HW all his losses came after the age of 38. Those three losses happen to be Marciano, Patterson, and Ali nothing to be ashamed of there. That being said his chin wasn’t the greatest but if you weren’t a great fighter you weren’t hitting his chin

64-3 full of wins against great hws right?
Archie was a great boxer but not a great heavyweight

Yeah I think Chuvalo was better rounded. Much better chin, stamina and skills. He could also crack too. Just seemed like the type of fighter who generally outlasted Shavers. Maybe if Earnie got him caught in a massive flurry the way that Foreman did he might force a stoppage. But that’s not something I’d bet money on.

Actually.... Moore’s record above 175 is better than most heavys who spent their entire career there. Just saying :)

Can you see him doing the same in the hw division from the 70s,80s,90s or from today?.

The most of the heavyweights from his era were 185-190 pounders with some exceptions.

Yes excellent HWs like Bivins, Nino, Baker, Satterfield, Henry, Davidson, Lavorante, Harold Johnson, Abel Cestac, Charlie Williams etc. one of the best HW resumes ever. Most of these men were prime as well. Plenty were the same size as 70-90 HWs and even some SHWs

realistically probably not no. His legacy and achievements warrant great merit though. Then again I don’t see many heavyweight even today and WITH the right physical tools along with help from modern chemistry putting together a record like that either, soooo..

Foreman did not according to every common opponent they ever had. Most were very conclusive about it. Shavers hit harder as hard as that is to fathom given Foreman is a monster.

Both would be top 5 punchers in heavyweight history.

Shavers is limited for sure and Foreman an infinitely better fighter.

Shavers hit hard with "certain shots"? Shavers hit hard with every shot.
