I have Hassim Rahman scoring a points win over The Washerwoman George Chuvalo. Rahman has that hard right hand that separated Lennox Lewis from his title. But Chuvalo has taken bombs from Oscar Bonavena, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, and Jerry Quarry, even a very ancient Cleveland Big Cat Williams, without ever touching the canvas. George will absorb Hassim's blows like a big shock absorber without flinching but will be the plodding aggressor. It will be a good workout for Rahman.
Chuvalo by decision. He would wear Rahman down. Punch to the body. Eventually find the range inside to the head.
Chuvalo for KO early. Rahman would throw the same right hand that dropped Lewis on Chuvalo's jaw but the rebound would throw him out of the ring as happened with Mashkaev.
Rahman would win but it would be a rough fight. Chuvalo had not only a great chin, but underrated power and was a fierce and consistent body puncher too. Rahman had better pace himself and use his long reach or he's going to be gasping for air and wide open in the later rounds. Rahman by a close decision maybe 7 rounds to 5 with lots of rough back and forth action. Might resemble Lyle vs Ledoux.
The best version of Rahman would beat the best version of Chuvalo, imho. Rahman was a pretty good boxer, had big power and walked through fire when he had to, eg vs Sanders. That said Rahman blew hot and cold and you might have a case for Chuvalo being more consistent.
