If they were both in their primes and you had 100 bucks ridding on one of them, and how do you think the fight would play out.

Liston TKO Chuvalo's face ends horribly filled with cuts.

George Foreman administered a horrible beating to Chuvalo. And
Liston no different. No knockdowns . Sonny stops Chuvalo in 3 rds.

Tko win for liston but chuvalo lasts longer with sonny than he did with foreman. Foreman hits harder and was even a faster starter

Liston beats him up. Chuvalo was tough and strong but he'd get hit with too many clean punches. If Liston wants, he can engage Chuvalo in a shoot out and get a referee induced TKO stoppage in a few rounds or he can torture Chuvalo behind the jab and win a one sided UD.

Even though Chuvalo and Mercer were similar fighters, for some reason, I envision Mercer giving Liston a much harder time than Chuvalo would. Maybe because Mercer was slightly bigger and hit harder (than Chuvalo). On the other hand, I don't think Mercer would do as well against a prime Ali as Chuvalo did. Ali/Mercer IMO would likely turn into one of the great mismatches of heavyweight title lore.

I doubt that mercer was bigger than chuvalo. Mercer was a porky at 230 pounds.he was taller but chuvalo had a caveman frame and he could carry 217 pounds being pure muscule and bone...at 6'0. They both could bang around the same

In mid-November 1970 there was talk that a fight between Liston and Chuvalo was on tap for February 1971. Fate had other plans, unfortunately.

I think liston would win by t.k.o or u.d. if their fighting prime for prime. But when there was talks about a liston chuvalo fight which happened after his loss to ali I think chuvalo would u.d. liston

But Sonny threw shorter, more accurate punches. George threw them from left and right field.

Chuvalo can't hurt Liston, and Liston can beat Chuvalo up badly. Call 911, pre-fight.

A brave battered bloody Chuvalo is stopped, against the ropes in 4. George calls for a immediate rematch!
