I tell you what, lets see if you are the real deal or just full of **** and wind like the barbers cat. Lets go $1k paypal, or do you want to raise the stakes? I'll provide a mod, lets say McGrain with enough varieties of proof of identity for it not to be arguable. Real man........or mini mouse in her shortest skirt? While i'm waiting i'll rub your lack of knowledge in with the cover of ring magazine saying exactly what i claimed, and you deny right this minute. My exact comment - "So disingenuous. Anyone familiar with the era would know Foreman was considered a circus until his excellent showing vs Holyfield and mags ran stories and covers to that affect....he isn't a joke no more etc." Check my avatar, if you can't read it then allow me elaborate - Fat, Funny, And Forty-Two, But Certainly No Fraud: Foreman Gives Holyfield A Fight...And The World A Thrill Do you like apples by any chance?
Foreman’s showing vs Holyfield was surprising …not excellent … he went the distance with pride. Maybe he won two or three rounds and none by significant margins. He won the event by going the distance but the fight was a one sided decision … George’s whole comeback was a brilliantly managed event by George .. he did not fight the toughest match ups or the most dangerous punchers … no Bowe, Lewis, Tyson, Bruno, Mercer, Ruddock, zero .. his claims to fame were going the distance w Holyfield and stopping another small guy in Moorer. I saw every one of his comeback fights and respect the comeback for what it was but absolutely don’t paint it with roses.
Foreman's showing was most certainly excellent with all things taken into account. It gave his comeback form substance and respect and proved he was no fraud in the ring. Holyfield had belted out Douglas in just three rounds in his previous fight so Foreman did pretty damn well for himself. Of course Douglas in his previous fight had beaten Tyson. I was hardly painting it with roses. Moorer had beaten Holyfield and was the world and lineal champion. Foreman won 3-4 rounds and won round two by "a significant margin". Virtually everyone scores that round for George.
He Grant gets bothered whenever Foreman is given what he perceives to be too much praise. He can otherwise be a good poster, but certain topics really trigger him. I'm not sure what it is about Foreman that is so polarizing. It's close to impossible to have an honest, balanced, and fair discussion on him. You will sometimes have people who overrate him, and you also have people who would rather jump in a pile of broken glass than give him an ounce of credit. I just don't understand why it has to be this way (especially with certain posters on this very site and others).
Yeah certain names come up with certain posters and their eyes start spinning like slot machine reels.
JT , he won the night by not getting stopped or being proved a totally hype job. The fight was a near one sided decision. Most ringside coverage gave him one or two rounds .. it was a decisive win for Evander .. calling something excellent "with all things taken into account" means he fought an good fight for an old guy and proved the nay sayers wrong , not that it was a highly competitive fight or an excellent performance between equally matched fighters ... as far as your A beats B bests C nonsense, it means zero. You're a consistent Foreman romanticist , have been endlessly here and I have no hope of changing it .. I'm just stating the facts ... his entire second carer was based on paths of lest resistance with a few big name / low stylistic risk marque matchups (Cooney, Holyfield , Morrison, Moorer) ... that side, it was fun. That said, he also did not fight one top big man with big power and as his popularity grew during the comeback and he commentated for HBO his opponent selection would often be open jokes on air with Foreman leading the way.
You only plucked my post out so you could have an extended rant on Foreman and get it all out yet again. Glass City Cobra called it from the start. I'll leave you play on your own.
That is correct and does not mean to disrespect Foreman but his second career was all smoke and mirrors, gift decisions, hand picked stiffs, undeserving title shots, getting stripped for refusing fighting anybody worth a lick and last but least involved in Bob Arums "Fix a fight". Credit to him for stopping Moorer but lets not get carried away because Moorer is a foot note at best while catching Holyfield with a malfunctioning Roid cycle. The fun fact is that Tua stopped Moorer in mere seconds..................stopped future beltholders as well Fact: Team Foreman would never ever fight prime One Trick Pony Tua.................
Tua probably would have always beaten Moorer but let’s not pretend he actually did beat any version other than an over the hill, disinterested has-been. “He beat the name tonight, not the fighter” were the effect of the commentary’s words.
