Classic match up, I just wished Big George never turned to the bible after his loss to Young! if he stook around this fight would be unreal in the late 70s, but full respect to George, now he's found peace with himself and didn't like the brute he was.

I think if Big George would get in close enough to land sum of wiked uppercuts and be able to boss the fight and bully Larry, i think he would stop Larry in less than 5.

    Who takes it?

i've always thought the the 79 holmes would take outbox and possibly stop the george of 73 whereas the george of the 90s would destroy the holmes of the mercer fight

79' holmes would outbox him imo
foreman could never take on a fighter that could move even if he was past his prime it shows that foreman can be outboxed but if holmes gets savvy and goes toe to toe his fight may go down the toilet but judging how he took those right hands from shavers and got up to stop him I think Holmes is the obvious decision.

I don't really have any doubt that Holmes would outbox Foreman to a big UD, or maybe a late mercy stoppage.

I've always maintained that imo,Holmes had the tools to wear George down, and stop him in the later rounds. Having said that, you can never dismiss a puncher's chance, and they did n't punch any harder than Foreman did. It's quite feasible that Holmes would get caught with a big right a la Shavers and follow it up with another pretty quickly.

Holmes easy ... the 1973 George is overrated ... he was very wild and had poor stamina ... he would excel against certain styles and be diced by others ... there was little versitility to his game ... Holmes would dice him up and embarrass him ...

Although George's talent of cutting the ring off would always be a problem. Muhammad Ali said that George was the most succesful fighter he'd faced who employed that tactic.

Larry would win a UD, but it would be the toughest fight he ever had, and probably, would have to get up from the canvas to beat George.

Holmes picks Foreman apart. Larry via wide decision.
