I like Ney's optimism. I like Marciano, but in my opinion Old Foreman is a nightmare for Marciano to deal with. He was basically bigger and tougher than his 70's self, and didn't have the 70s version achilles heel of gassing out. His jab was longer and more educated and he still hit with bone crunching force.

Basically I can't see Marciano knocking this dude out. But I can certainly see Marciano outworking him handsomely, and maybe even outboxing him somewhat given that Foreman had slowed down so much. But Rocky still has to go right up and exchange with this mastodon which in my opinion would not be healthy for him.

If I had to put forward a scenario where Marciano wins, then its one where he utilizes his crouch to muffle or avoid Foreman's clubbing shots while landing his own repeatedly. Over the course of the fight Marciano builds up momentum and survives a few scares thanks to his innate toughness and stamina to finish strong to everybody's surprise. He looks like **** but wins a decision simply through landing more punches. Not likely in my opinion, but hey, I'd have lost a lot of money betting against Marciano if I'd been a betting man. It wouldn't be the first time I'd have been wrong.

I am perfectly open to the majority view, I should re-iterate. Foreman may well end this fairly early.

Does it involve smuggling a bazooka in the ring?

I'm not sure he makes it farther than Jimmy Ellis... and no, not that Jimmy Ellis.

I was just messing around with him Noel.
It's like that joke that Marciano could never lose who ever he fights.

Whoever picked Marciano come & defend it. No reason to be shy.

Rocky doesn’t have the movement needed to beat any version of George

Every time Foreman tries to push Rocky he would get headbutted, uppercuted, caught with suzie q...every time Foreman tries to push Rocky, Rocky would punch Foreman hands so hard I wonder if Foreman would be able to keep his guard after few rounds.

I have seen Foreman vs Qawi and Foreman vs Coetzer...Rocky was bigger than Qawi, heavier 20 pounds and could punch very, very hard.

Prime for prime Foreman would stop him in crazy slugfest but old Foreman wouldn't beat Marciano.

A 5'10 185 pound man with a 69 inch reach is going to headbutt and uppercut George Foreman?

Like he uppercut Joe Louis and lifted him with punch and Joe Louis was no small man 6ft2 and 215 pounds.
Tyson was short but he uppercut people taller than Foreman.

With a 1994 ref? Foreman batters him to a stoppage somewhere around 6... and it gets ugly. Real ugly. Always thought this was one of the worst beatings Foreman ever administered. Sekorski was as tough as it gets but tough doesn't really cut it against Foreman.

That long telephone jab alone would be a nightmare for Rocky.

An old George would do about as well as old Joe Louis did

I dunno...after being decked by the light hitting Jimmy Young...and then losing to him in 1977...he'd have an easy version of Rocky Marciano...who was getting near to his prime? Don't think so...

Agreed on the jab but the issue is Marciano has time to organise a small dinner in the time it takes the follow up to come through.
