So he would have beaten Ali in their fight if he had that later mind set?

As great as he was George Foreman could have been the greatest of all time. Had he had proper training utilizing his job defense and pacing, he could have retired post homes undefeated as the undisputed greatest heavyweight of all time.

One of my favourite fights, mainly because the jury was still out on both men at the time, and it represented a clash of eras. There was huge anticipation for this fight, and I was really nervous before it started.
While Holy was seen as the clear favourite, Big George was not without his supporters who believed (with some justification) that he could KO Holyfield.

We would see the incredible sight of a forty-two year old former champ take on the young, tough modern champ. So, we would Big George be a flop or make history?

I think George fought about as well as he possibly could have. To go blitzkrieg on Holy would have seen Big George severely gas after two rounds, and be easy pickings for the much faster and younger champ.

Big George realised that this was his mistake in Zaire, and it would have been an absolute disaster had he tried that in Atlantic City against Holyfield, where he was much, much older.
He knew that he had to use his size and strength to try to bully and press the smaller man and get him into a corner or along the ropes, but that was much easier said than done.

I think he gave a hell of an account of himself.
