Much respect to George but... Foreman was never put "spark out" to sleep aKa KTFO. (Ali simply beat the **** out of him) Manny was popped.
I don't remember George reclaiming the top spot. Did he have the top spot after he beat Frazier and was about to fight Ali?
The good thing is Manny took a long break, which allows the body to heal. Emanual Steward always said after a knockout, the body needs at least a 6 month rest with not major punches landing on the head to fully recover.
:rofl compared to who floyd? How did Flyod get the top spot, by fighting ricky hatton, baldomir, old oscar, then retiring ? Floyd didn't even clean out his division. You dont get #1 by cherry picking.
I agree. Manny was at the top. Floyd never earned it by handpicking. Floyd gets to the top by fighting mediocres guys and waiting for the top guys to get knocked out by fighting the best or fighting so much they wear out.
This. Also, pac didn't "fade with age". He's been decisively outboxed in every fight with JMM and looked lost at times versus Bradley. Boxers that can counter punch and have okay defense reveal manny's small toolkit. He's an exciting fighter, but he's not elite. The elite fighters are the Ward's, Floyd's, Sergio's, Nonito's, Klit's, etc. These guys have been under the gun versus top comp. and bested their competition, many times through making adjustments. manny has never been, and will never be, a fighter that can make adjustments.
You're giving Floyd **** about his opposition selection in comparison to manny? Really? manny? The same guy that fight above 135 6-7 times and This content is protected . And his opposition selection is better? More deserving of your "top spot"? Not to mention the catchweights, rehydration clauses, and careful avoidance of fighters who were considered potential threats (Mosley pre-Floyd). Yeah. Your top spot don't mean ****.
Same guy who said Floyd wouldn't ever fight Mosley and then today has absolutely no credit to give for it.
if he were to focus entirely on boxing, i dont see who could stop him. up until the ko, he looked quick and strong and he was beating up juan pretty good. i think his problem is that hes trying to do too much and the focus that is necessary to beat these top guys, just isnt there.
it's totally plausible. people are so quick to write off fighters when they fall. pacquiao is in possession of legendary determination. you'd be a fool to write him off strictly based off a string of bad performances given the history of great fighters and the way they've rebounded from similar circumstances.
This ain't 2009. This version is well fed and well paid. A truly determined Pacquiao would have gotten right back in the ring with Bradley immediately after the that loss.
