Prime Foreman would probably have destroyed Tyson because he was quicker and a harder puncher in his youth not to mention he was simply stylistic kryptonite for a short swarmer that crouched low and used head movement to get inside. Tyson would have been on the end of that telephone pole jab most of the time and as he ducked in he'd be open for the uppercuts which prime George threw deceptively fast.

On the other hand, I fear the comeback George would have caught hell trying to time Tyson's head movement, he'd be flustered with Tyson's speed which was incredible when inside, and he'd be battered with punches as hard or harder than anything he ever took. Holyfield gave him hell on the inside and he wasn't as quick nor as hard-hitting as prime Tyson was. On the flipside, Tyson didn't have the Chin or the Heart of Holyfield and Tyson might not have been able to eat the shots that Holyfield did to take over the fight. It would have been a hellacious fight but prime Mike was something special and it's hard to pick the lesser version of George against him.

 

Foreman had a better chin,more heart,more power. Any Foreman is a bad style match up for Mike. Foreman is great at matchmaking.
Old Foreman would KO Tyson.
Old Foreman gave prime Holyfield a good fight and even rocked him a few times. Tyson was KO'd by an old Holyfield. Tyson's 5 round attack wouldn't be enough. George survives the early onslaught and rapes him in the second half. Late KO. Foreman was always calling Mike out but Cus's words rang true in Mike's ears.

 

And Tommy Morrison's left hooks to the Foreman chin did that too? No
Prime Briggs with the most HW first round KO's did what to a 48 year old Foreman? Nothing.

Moorer? Cooney?

Tyson has nothing to beat George with. He might mark him up for the first 4 rounds or so but George would KO him late.

 

Tyson would have cuased a problem for Foreman, he is a better fighter than lyle, and has better application to unleash punches than frazier.

50-50 Fight...

 

IMO Prime Foreman beats Prime Tyson. Just too big and strong. A lot of people here forget just how powerful and quick big George was in his prime.

But if Tyson had fought come back George around 1990 Tyson would have destroyed him, he was nowhere near as quick or sharp as he used to be, Michael Moorer out boxed him until he got the KO (which still looks dubious to me).

Too many people get carried away with Mikes prime, and forget he got took the distance in the 80s by quite a few fighters, cba going on boxrec but Tony Tucker took him the distance and Tilles gave him trouble. Plus Bruno had Mike wobbled in there first fight. So how would he deal with prime George who would throw thundurous hooks right from hell and would be all over Mike and he could probably have taken Mikes shots as well.

Thunderous hooks that tyson would have enough time to stroll over to his corner, sit down have a cup of tea, read the paper have a joint, stroll back over to george and duck under that hook.
