George wrote a piece in this week's Boxing News about his fond memories of Joe Frazier. In it,he said that Joe was fonder of Muhammad Ali than the publicity of recent years would have us believe. George stated that Muhammad and Joe would talk fondly together when they were just about the only people in the room, but as soon as three or more others came in,Muhammad would go into tease mode and **** Joe off. Until the next time. Foreman reckons that there was no genuine hate there. I'm not sure about this, but it would be nice to think that Big George was right.
That sounds like **** to me. When is Muhammad supposed to have "tease" Joe last? Thanks for the tip though Steve, I'll grab the issue now.
I find that...difficult to believe, honestly. Very difficult. It sounds like George Foreman everythingswellism.
I find it hard to believe that there was that much genuine hatred between Ali and Frazier, it's hard to know really. If you look at this interview http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/15616563.stm it seems that they all got on pretty well in the 80's.
Good point,Hydro. There have been quite a few occasions over the years when Ali and Joe were together, and Joe seemed quite happy. Maybe he had some pro Ali days and ant Ali ones ?
Quite ironical that the only man who has beaten the other two was, at the time, the one in worst shape. Thanks for the great moment, I really enjoyed the documentary.
