And Van Damme ! He apparently put it on Segal an Segal flapped like a good'n ! Lundgren's legit too !
I watched some of Rourkes fights a while back, and god he was **** ! He fancies himself as a fighter so I thought he would be better than what I watched !
One article I read on this last night actually made a tongue-in-cheek but legit very good point, regarding the "use anything you want" stipulation vis-a-vis Seagal's chances: Aikido employs primarily wrist-locks, useless on somebody with their wrists taped and with boxing gloves slipped on...
I know, I was kidding, he was also like half Foreman's size, campaigned at light middleweight I think. He was also notoriously feather-fisted (the Japanese fans and media half-mockingly and half-adoringly called him "Hageshī Neko Panchā", or Fierce Kitty-Cat Puncher) and more than half of his fights were rumored to be fixed. Fact does remain though, in fairness, he at least trained in actual boxing gyms alongside real boxers, unlike the others listed. Norris, JCVD, et al were straight-up just actors with no proven real-world hand to hand combat prowess (and no, the karate [and other eastern disciplines of various efficacy, all co-opted and diluted into farcical charlatan strip mall nonsense by whites in the 70's and 80's] tourneys of the McDojo, pre-MMA era and such don't count, as they're mostly about forms and have light contact if any) - so he does technically have a slight marginal edge in 'tough guy' legitimacy over them.
Funny you mention non contact karate world champ Norris and former european kickboxing champ JCVD because Rourke starred as a bad guy in a shitty JCVD movie called double team maybe they should have had a shitty real fight at the end to settle things! LOL!
Against bums, I saw an amateur tournament where Van Damme won some shitty trophy and all he did was throw constant side kicks to stop the guy coming forward suppose that could keep old George of him better than fat Seagal but I fear George may still be too big, either way it will all look completely funny, they could feature it in a movie it would be better than that crap grudge match starring Stallone taking on a Lamotta like DeNiro or something!
I thought that same thing when Seagal offered Lennox Lewis a sparring match back during Lewis`s second reign as world champ, They`d have fight with UFC-MMA gloves or something.
Chuck Norris was a point karate world champ (which is non contact) one of his matches is on youtube. Van Damme was defeated by 1 or 2 fighters challenging for the european kick box title then avenged the defeat(s) by beating the same foe (s) to win the euro title in a rematch or rematches. Lungren was a krav manga fighter but I watched a match with him on youtube and Norris and JCVD were far better than him although Stallone has stated that he asked Dolph to hit him for real during one of his rounds in the dreadful Rocky 4 and Sly says he was hit in the heart and had to be rushed to hospital!
My point is he wasn't as straight up actor with no background as I B stated,..He legitimately fought !
I don't care what Akido is about. I've seen a fairly recent clip of Segal throwing a one two and the guy has speed.
He wanted to fight Randy Couture a good few years back. That wouldn't have been very pleasant for him !
