Damn. RIP to an absolute legend and One of the most iconic athletes to ever enter an arena. Him, Ali, Norton and Frazier are back together
I loved him as an announcer too. He gave a lot of good pointers from ringside and always seemed fair to both fighters.
As a commentator George was good at the theatrics. He really got into the moment. Sometimes a little too much
He loved his punchers but he was doing great at analyzing what Vargas needed to do throughout the fight.
Yes. It still feels weird that he's no longer with us and hard for me to get my head around even though he was old and death is inevitable.
Got an opportunity to meet this great man a decade ago in Dallas, TX. Great, Great, Great soul. Very encouraging and insightful. Sad day, but glorious moment with his passing as he has gone to meet the man he's always honored above himself. His creator. Love to him, his family, and close ones. Strength to all to be able to grasp this reality. Rest in peace champ....
Rest in peace to one of the legends. The man may be gone, but the name and legacy will never die. It sounds like he went pretty peacefully. He was a religious man, so hopefully the thought of seeing his daughter again provided further comfort at the end too. RIP On a lighter note, he was easily one of the best guest stars on King of the Hill. I think that was my first introduction to who he was. Not a bad way to start, I must say "You're calling my grill an IRON?! I've been hit below the belt before, but nothing like this!"
