I'd have preferred he fight Tucker but after Foreman fought him Schulz got 2 title shots in a row, 3 total.

Grimsley was ranked number 9 and was given a regional belt by 2 seperate organizations. Foreman was looking for lower top 10 opponent to warm up against and the alphabet bodies put Grimsley on the menu. He was an awful opponent but lets not act like Foremans responsible for such an unproven fighter getting ranked.

Savarese was a USBA champ. Before Savarese the only prior holders of that belt to NOT get a title shot were Mike Hunter and Buster Mathis Jr(who he beat).

Briggs was vindicated by winning a round against Lennox Lewis and becoming a 2x champ.

 

Wow, doubling and tripling down. You aren’t fooling anyone. Go watch Grimsley’s fight with Thunder and Savarese’s fight with Tyson.

Ahem…. And Bowe ducked Lewis. Foreman got striped of his title for not fighting Tony Tucker who never even should have been freakin ranked.

 

Why should he have to wait for the division to clear up? There were plenty of top 10 guys he could have fought and no need to wait for an outstanding contender to emerge. Instead he exclusively fought unranked journeyman who should not have been on his radar to begin with

 

Big Foreman fan here, but I also think George wanted no part of Moorer a second time.

 

Tyson didn’t fight Lewis or Bowe either. Gave up a belt rather than face Lennox.
