Well I agree with the vast majority of that.

Ali had some magical redeeming & childlike qualities, you could not take him seriously with his "I'm a baaaad man" rap. He was kind to many, heroic in his principled stand & in the ring, an oversized impish court jester...

BUT he was absolutely racist. He reformed without really apologizing. He even spoke at a friggin' KKK rally in support of segregation, that was bizarre!

And his treatment of his opponents was sometimes cruel. Patterson did not deserve it. Even Liston, harassing him with the bullhorn & bus, that & his press conference freak out was a calculated mind game.

His attacks on Frazier WERE racist, & unforgivable, especially when Frazier went to bat for him at the highest levels like Nixon for reinstatement, & gave him money when he was hurting.

I do not feel bad about how he treated Terrell, who was out of line calling him Clay.
So he got a legal beating in the ring, deserved really.

Frazier went back & forth with Ali. He would forgive then show rage...I cannot blame him at all, Ali never came clean. Sent his son I believe as an emmisary to apologize after one of their fights, Joe said have Ali come & apologize...

Ali added much delight & interest to the world, & did good after boxing, understandably is adored. But I do not think that he is a well-integrated personality.

Yet not a sociopath like Don King, who seems to have no human feeling & would run over his Mother if it helped his limitless greed for money, power & fame.

George says that Teofilio Stevenson would have beaten everyone if he had gone pro. He fought Ali, Frazier, Norton and Ron Lyle but says he dodged Jerry Quarry.

Archie Moore didn't seem to buy it.
