You have to ask the question if the Foreman that fought Holyfield have blasted Tyson out in a couple of rounds probably Tyson was made for Forman and he always looked slow and clumsy.
Yeah that would have been something. Big George was no joke even in his late Forties. He would have held onto the title for another few years if he wasn't absolutely robbed by judges when he fought Briggs.
Foreman was a joke post Moorer... He should of retired after the Moorer fight (arguably the last great moment in the history of the sport), because he struggled (and lost IMO) to the limited Schultz, fought some bum and then had the bore with Briggs. There was no need for Foreman to continue post Moorer. Foreman became a brilliant sales man in his second career. If I remember rightly this thread title headed a few boxing mags. If the fight was ever plausible it would of happened, as huge dollars were there to be made. But timing meant it was never meant to be, and that was not down to one or the either avoiding each other.
Oh, hey Rooster. I didn't know that you are a member of E.S.B.. I watch quite a few of your vids on youtube and I have to say that I am a fan of them. We will definitely have to work on your all-time top ten pound for pound list, but it is a process. I like the one on Dempsey, especially due to your choice of song. I sometimes play the only known existing footage of Harry Greb while playing that song. It just fits to me. Anyway, keep up the good work.
haha, Thanks mate. My personal p4p list has changed since then. That was made a few years ago. And im glad you like my Dempsey Video, it was one of my first, Out of all the Old Videos i made its the only one i wouldnt remake.
Foremans comeback is the biggest smoke and mirrors job that amazingly boxing fans rate for some reason, he got schooled by nearly everyone in the 90s and his only credibl win is Moorer, who yes was schooling him
This was one of the most blatant ducks in heavyweight history. Tyson previously demonstrated that he was not at all adverse to taking on overmatched light heavyweights like Spinks, or an inactive and rusty Holmes for a big payday, so why did he never match himself against a humongous payoff like the one Foreman was guaranteed to provide him with, in a showdown everybody was anticipating, and wanted to see? There is only one possible reason why this never happened, and that's because Mike fully expected to get shoved and battered all over the ring until he got his head knocked off.
So he takes on a more dangerous prospect in Ruddock? There were clear scheduling issues and Foreman was simply not a priority. No was he a legacy enhancer. He was simply a Payday and with Tyson, those were a dime a dozen.
Yeah, I don't yet have a finished p4p list, due to the fact that it takes a long time to really observe all of the great fighters of the past. Someone like Harry Greb requires even more research because there is no known fight film remaining on him. I am actually quite suprised that the Dempsey video was one of your first. It is a great video. I also like your greatest punchers video. You appropriately placed Shavers at #1 with Foreman right behind him. The requiem for a dream theme is well placed. I like your taste of music as well as the videos. Keep us posted here on E.S.B. on any new material.
Yeah right! Foreman was not even a legitimate contender. He was all self-promotion, comedy act, buffoonery, etc. He was entertaining, and he was hoping his "lounge act" would entice Tyson into offering him (Foreman) a huge payday. What's lost by a lot of people on the "Tyson ducked Foreman train" is the fact that all George had to do was fight and beat a top ranked contender and Team Tyson would have had no choice but to fight him....But Foreman talked up the Tyson fight while bowling over tomato cans and hapless bums. It was kind of like, let me call out King Kong but I'll continue to fight Mickey Mouse and the Seven Dwarfs to show everybody that I deserve the fight with King Kong!!!! Bill Cayton, Tyson's manager, even said that Foreman would be a consideration for Tyson in the future if he were to beat a top contender and get ranked. But he said Foreman was not on Tyson's radar while Foreman was beating bums.......Foreman wanted all of his ballyhoo to get him that title shot without the risk of losing to a decent fighter along the way....so simple yet so difficult for some people to understand!
Not this again. But seriously to the OP, Foreman was not beating the kind of fighters that would have warranted a title shot against Tyson. Tyson had nothing to gain by beating Foreman and if Tyson substituted Foreman for Ruddock, he'd be criticized.
