Well didn't is far more decisive. So that bodes even less well for Mr Shaver. :good

True, it's a far comment to note that about Larry, but other statements he's made along these lines corroborate with what others have said who were indeed able to compare Shavers to others. For all Holmes knew at the time he faced Tyson, other former opponents of Shavers on the Geritol comeback trail may have also had future encounters with Tyson, or perhaps would have an opportunity to spar with both Earnie and Mike. Larry had to feel pretty confident that his stated observations would be independently supported by other first hand reports.

I'm not aware of Larry having any heat with Tyson. I don't visit his site much, but from what I understand, his issues are with Scott LeDoux, Foreman, and Norton, not Tyson. (Of course, other noted hitters Larry's faced are McCall, Bonecrusher, Weaver, Mercer, Holyfield, Witherspoon and Cooney, though never Lyle.)

I think he once said Cooney hit harder than Tyson too. While it's possible. I think it's fair to say that Mike landed more significantly than Gerry did. Methinks t'is more of Larry's sour grapes made from vintage Eastern whine. ;)

Aye, I watched both Foreman and Shavers last night, and Foreman seems far more likely to be the last one standing, but you have to wonder how Foreman would deal if Shavers got through clean with his pet right.

Well, that wine would explain away many of my posts. (Conteh, do you really think I've been sober while offering messages to this forum?)

Funny you should mention red. We've had a heat wave where I've been lately, and last night, I brought my long dormant bartending skills out of mothballs to brain-freeze myself on strawberry margueritas. (I have yet to recover, I'm happy to say!) Enjoy your tea!

Foreman, early KO after scary moments.

Foreman's chin was granite, particularly pre-Zaire when he believed that he was the black Superman. He didn't recover from the kryptonite that Ali fed him for more than a decade.

Both men are roughly comparable with power, but that Shaver's overhand was the single most devestating HW shot. Foreman could take it better than Shavers and that's about all there is to say.

Foreman by 1st round knockout. Shavers did not have a good chin.

Foreman-Lyle all over again! With the same result Foreman would put Shavers down & keep him down with his bombs.

Agreed, I dont think we should use the Foreman v. Lyle fight as proof of anything.

Foreman had confidence with a big C prior to Ali, and it is that Foreman, huge, powerful and supremely confident who we are talking about.

    Foreman KO2 Shavers.

Bad matchup for Shavers. Foreman wins, by early KO.
